The trouble is that circa £9,000,000 taken in season ticket money is now a drop in the ocean to Palace. It's about a third of what they now pay for just one player.

Just like sky moving kick offs to nearly any time of any day, they don't really give a toss about the fans who go, and anyone who thinks that Parish is any different to all of the others is deluded imo.

I don't see where the issue here is. In my experience small clubs have poor box office, low staffing levels, poor technical infrastructure and frustrating box offices - Its been that way since I was a kid. Unprofessional, slightly slap dash bolstered by enthusiasm and cynical humour.

Anyone who thinks were a slick corporate marketing exercise, has never been to Selhurst park. Everything about our club screams 'punching about our weight' compared to slick financed corporate clubs.

Even my local team Reading, have a more modern ground in a modern business complex, out of town etc.

There is nothing slick about us. Tatty old ground, with lots of character, right in the middle of the community, with poor, minimal facilities, with fans taking the p*ss as a coping mechanism.

Like it or not in our field we are one of the top 20 businesses (YES FOOTBALL CLUBS ARE BUSINESSES) in the country and are now pulling in tens of millions annually. Making excuses for the clubs 'size' no longer washes.
I've been away to every ground in the division with the exception of Everton. None are as disorganised, unprofessional, slap dash and has as many ambivalent staff as Crystal Palace. We support a big club now like it or not. Its time they started acting like it.

Sadly you are probably right .The only time they might "care" is if we were relegated and attendances plummeted.

Sad reading indeed.

I quote, from the introduction to We All Follow the Palace (1993)

"Crystal Palace is a real football club, supported by real people, not a corporate marketing exercise which is what many of English football's more 'glamourous' names have become.

and

"It is to be hoped that we will always retain our small club attitude...."

Times may have changed!

Well said. Couldn't agree more.

WTF is wrong with some people? Smooth off the edges, make it slick and soulless and what are you left with? The farcical arsenal, Intercontinental hotel or tennis.

Palace have a semi official slogan, SOUTH LONDON AND PROUD. And poncing up the experience is neither true to our soul or something to be proud of.

I think SP has probably been caught out by the frenzy of it all. If the team continues to disappoint there won't be a future in the PL for Palace so first things first - reinforce the team. Rebuilding the stadium comes later but alienating our traditional fan base could be disastrous in the longer-term. Who will turn up to watch Palace in the Championship?

You have expressed yourself, at length, beautifully.

Just a thought regarding the changes made at the start of each season. The players warm up with pre-season matches; is there not a case for Selhurst Park being warmed up as well, with the last home pre season match being accessed free - without further payment - as a means of ensuring that season ticket holders get their tickets (which can be tested) in good time.

Bad news mate.

I used to bring clients to Palace, about 6 times per year in the Championship. Since they have been in the Premiership, I have had to stop bringing them because the service has got so poor that I have had to get season tickets at Wembley instead.

One time last year, they forgot that they had moved the hospitality and stuck us in an empty room for 1/2 an hour. When they finally found us, they threatened to throw us out for trespassing.

I think they are struggling. I still support palace myself, but they do seem to make it difficult to love them sometimes.

That made me chuckle, no chance the club giving anything away. It's all about money to them now sadly.

I don't really think tweeting Parish about something like this, is a great use of his time do you?
Everyone is moaning about signings and the playing side of the club - Now we want him to get down to the box office and sort things out!

Going on the number of replies and the problems I think it's vital that Parish is told of the feelings shown here. He's the boss and if his minions aren't doing their jobs he needs to know and to sort it out !!

Sharon Lacey is very good she sorted out my missing loyalty points quickly. After various emails to the box office and the club etc with no replies;some one told me to put her name on the email I did and she was brilliant.

Seconded. Following on from my post yesterday I e-mailed Sharon during the evening. To my pleasant surprise I received a reply at 20:15, we exchanged e-mails throughout the evening and she is now on the case.I do not know Sharon's job title but the Club need to keep hold of her or West Ham or Chelsea will poach her!!

Problem is one of expense. Verification projects are very expensive business, requiring a large infrastructure testing environment that has to be maintained, as well as a employment of several professionals to perform testing, and design testing programs.

The reality is that for most football clubs (which aren't very good businesses, even the profitable ones) its unachievable beyond a 'sample' test. Especially when the cost of failure is simply inconvenience. Reality is no one is going to give up going to games on the back of one or two experiences on the first day of the season.

It'd be nice, but I doubt people would be happy to pay extra on their tickets to cover the cost of the testing infrastructure, consultant, engineers and test leads.
