Million percent sure that if you name 24 you can add a free agent player to the squad as long as a positon is left vacant in the squad. There is no window for free agents. BIlko is wrong and wont admit it till we sign someone, and then wont admit it. My understanding is that you can name less than the 25 but after the 'Window' closes can bring that number up to 25 by only adding 'Free Agents' . Only 'Free Agents' can be signed after the 'Window' closes - and only those who were 'Free agents' whilst the 'Window' was open. Edited by Willo (02 Sep 2016 6.47pm)

Ye olde wiki. Would be a good acquisition. It mentions Arsene Wenger who once said of Flamini that he accepts the 'Dark role' in the team. A leader who organises people, gets tackles in and has been renowned for covering a lot of ground in a game but this might have diminished with age !

Copy paste of Guardian article... Crystal Palace are one of a quartet of clubs exploring the possibility of securing the former Arsenal midfielder Mathieu Flamini as the Frenchman seeks a new club following his release from the Emirates Stadium in June.
Arsenal favoured Bournemouth’s loan bid for Wilshere given the south coast club’s willingness to cover the player’s entire wage package and pay a £2m loan fee, while Palace’s hopes of securing McCarthy fizzled out once Newcastle’s Moussa Sissoko chose to join Tottenham Hotspur rather than Everton. Rincón, the Venezuela captain, was a third option only for talks with his club, Genoa, to flounder over a fee. Late enquiries as to the potential availability of Jonjo Shelvey at Newcastle and Dale Stephens at Brighton also came to nothing. Flamini made 24 appearances for Arsenal last term, the last of which came in a 3-1 Champions League knockout defeat against Barcelona at Camp Nou in March, and had been expected to join the Turkish club, Caykur Rizespor, earlier in the summer. Yet the 32-year-old would offer Palace another experienced body in midfield as Pardew seeks to evolve his team’s style of play. The south London club submitted a 24-man squad list to the Premier League on Thursday, leaving them one slot which could be filled by a free agent if terms can be agreed. Sgt Bilco, see last paragraph. In bold. And red..... Are they wrong also? He won't admit it even then LOL

Probably licking his wounds right now, taking it really seriously. Was badly wrong on a topic pre Palace in the Prem and there was one a few weeks ago. Sg Bilge didn't post again for 5 days.

Ok so he's wrong. No need to rub salt into the wound. People get things wrong. That is human. He will never admit it, or if he knows it, he'll lay low for a few days. Grown man as well.

Wow, looks like I picked the wrong question to ask! Surely, if he wasn't allowed to play nobody would bother talking to any free agents till January. So I'm guessing we deliberately only named 24 so we could add a free agent to the squad before next Saturday's game. Adding is fine then to make 25, but not allowed to replace anyone.
