I think the club are insulting our intelligence with signings like this.

Parish said on talksport yesterday Flamini was a replacement for Jedinak.

Hold on a minute, if that's the sort of player the squad need then why jettison the mighty Jedi?

Flamini does not have the same connection with the club, the desire or can make as great an all-round contribution on and off the pitch.

He will not win as many headers, tackles or interceptions. He will not be as powerful on set pieces.

Will he convert penalties and free kicks from outside the box?

Pardew probably thinks Flamini is better, which is the real danger the club are currently in because he simple does not know a player or cannot handle big personalties that have done so much to put the club where it is.

I swear some fans are never bloody satisfied at all.....

Flamini is a DM, like Jedinak, but with a different, and I think many would agree superior, set of skills. He won't have the same physical presence, in terms of height, but he sure can tackle and, more importantly, he can put in a more than decent pass. We should now have enough quality to deal with penalties and free kicks, which were not what Jedinak was employed for. 'Big personality' or no, Jedinak was a squad player last season.

So are you trying to say that replacing a player who has spent his entire career in substandard leagues until his rise with Palace to the Premiership with a player who has spent the majority of his career playing Champions league football is a bad move?

Jedi had heart, was a great leader but couldn't pass for toffee. We have many players who can take free kicks and penalties and also a big squad for set play.

I would say that you are struggling to see class difference in players and failing to understand that certain players can only take something so far before they need to be upgraded for the better of the club.

Did we struggle with height when Cabaye and Jimmac were bossing it in 5th place before either and mainly Jimmac got injured? No.

Loved Jedi who will always be a Palace legend for me but see this as a good signing, and as said £4mio to pay his wages. better passer and also decent tackler. Oh, and surely the song for him has to be 'Flamini...do do do do do...Flamini do do do do (in the tune of the muppets). Ok, I'll get me coat.

Your dedication to this angle is impressive.

According to Pardew Jedi would not have been happy with a bit-part role in the team. I don't think anyone really disagrees that he was would be our best choice for all our games. That is why he left. Flamini clearly has more to his game offensively than Jedi and therefore may be a good option for the majority of our matches if he stays fit.

I think people are missing the point with comments like this.
Flamini may have been Jedi's replacement, but he was by no means the first-choice replacement.

Players leave, that's football. OK, Jedi left under Somewhat of a grey cloud, but AP is trying to change the way we play(a whole nother argument), and Jedi obviously wasn't in the forefront of those plans. We tried to replace him in the Window, and failed. Because of this, the club then realised that they were one midfielder short of a full squad once the window closed. so with only free transfers left to go after, went after the best that was available. and got him.

You should not slate cpfc for this. they tried their best, some transfers didn't happen. That's the transfer window for you. If we'd have gotten Wilshere, we wouldn't have went for Flamini.

I cannot remember a better transfer window ever. We've brought in players for (nearly) all of our problem positions, pulling off some transfer coups in the process.

That we could not only interest someone of his stature, but compete with - and beat - the likes of Roma, AC Milan et al for his signature speaks volumes of what this club has achieved.

It's a great signing for Palace. Taking a bit of a chance but it could really pay off. He's an exciting player with pedigree. Will Al play him with Cabaye, do we think? It could be a great partnership.

100% agree with this, the club were right to sell jedi.
