I daresay none of the managers were massively involved actually, I think it was driven by Parish, but it might have been Warnock heading up the team at that point now I think about it. I'd look it up but I can't be bothered!

I think you're right there!. Was definitely a Parish signing which I've no problem about at all. But yes to phrase it better Warnock was Manager/Interim at the time of signing.

Yannick Bolasie - Glenn Murray - Wilfried Zaha

Most exciting attacking trio at Selhurst Park in years.

Zaha was re-signed when Warnock held the managerial reins.

We were talking about purchases not loans. Wilf was signed on a season long loan by Warnock/Parish. He joined permanently in the January window (effectively before his loan was up).

But it is a bit of a moot point as I am pretty sure the season long loan had the option to buy.

Wilf joined on a season long loan when warnock was in charge. We cut the loan short and turned it into a permanent transfer. With Alan Pardew in the manager seat, therefore he had the final say where to make wilf a permanent deal. A bit like puncheon signed on loan by holloway but made permanent by Pullis. To be honest does it really matter, just that he back wearing red and blue.

Well, I think the thread should be "Parish's best and worst buys since Pardew".

Pardew might have an impact, make suggestions and try to convince players to sign. But SP does the negotiating, and pays the bills. In fact, it's clear the other new owners were the ones who pushed signing Benteke, so even crediting SP may be too simple. But I do remember when Sako was signed that Pardew gave SP all the credit, that he didn't know much about him and was just told by SP that Sako was signed.

That aside:

1. Benteke, a whole new level. My friends can't believe Palace managed to sign him, even those that don't rate him. Huge signal of intent and understanding what is needed to challenge top half.

2. Cabaye, this was huge in the moment, again, everyone seemed very surprised he signed with Palace. This is one AP gets credit for. Without Cabaye I doubt we'd have Benteke or Mandanda and probably a few others. His signing put us on more agents lists.

3. Tomkins, I know he hasn't shown much yet, but his signing was the first time I can remember Palace signing someone who was (mostly) starting on the pitch for a top-half team. WHU fans were shocked to see him go, and I was shocked we landed him. Even Cabaye and Benteke were bench players when we signed them (on good teams, but still), and they were actively looking for a change.

Worst:

1. Mutch, 4.750M and just didn't deliver anything (and got lots of chances unlike a few others)

2. A. McCarthy 3.5M was a lot (well last year it was) for a 3rd string keeper. I don't think he was horrible, but he didn't pan out

3. I don't have a third choice. For anyone who was a free signing I can't call them bad buys. If I considered Loans, I'd say Bamford, but again they are so cheap and low risk that I don't consider them bad buys, just disappointments. Even Remy who may never play for us, it was a good signing, it just hasn't worked out.

As much as I've been pleased with Pape Souare's signing, in fact he's one of my favourite players, I wouldn't credit Pardew with his signing, as he was already on Parish' radar during the previous transfer window when Warnock was manager. If I remember correctly Lille weren't prepared to let him go for the amount we offered, but fortunately we got him over the line at the next opportunity.
