The best post I've read was that pardew got lucky with cabaye getting injured and Jedinak getting sold therefore forcing him into selecting McArthur and Ledley. That was from rudy, our very own hol football genius/manager/chairman. And then says he has no agenda against pardew haha

AP played Cabaye and MacArthur before in this order right up to Jedinak being sold:

Jedinak
Ledley

You work it out.

Managers do get a bit lucky finding formulae. It's quite normal for this to happen in football. Tinkering or just injuries or players being unavailable but again, you cannot grasp this.

Were you named after Baldrick by any chance?

On a retrospective note :
I would like to say AP is an EX Palace player, and or Captain of some of the most memorable squads to don a Palace shirt, his team peers were the likes of Solako, Wright, Bright, Coleman, Samson, Southgate all bar Kenny, Still show and display great passion for and impact on the beautiful game of football 20-25 years on. AP was a part of that dressing room led by the inspirational Steve Coppell. Without SC's, passion for the game I doubt those players would go on to inspire that passion in others, which they all clearly continue to this day - onwards and upwards to them all. If any of those EX Palace players come back to help the Palace. I for one, who watched their passion from the terraces know, it will be to re-kindle that passion once again and inspire another generation of players even stronger.

To that end clearly AP, thanks to a Just as passionate a boardroom. His actions have proved louder than those who do not remember. Pity his results in the past proved as erratic as lovely SC's, but at least we are still here. I am happy to see since then, we have been able for the first time in our history, the much-needed boardroom cash to spend.

It will take me a long time before I, as a Palace fan am so willing to throw the towel in for Alan Pardew and the new squad he is building.

Not so sure that's best policy to be honest. Best man for the job and all that.

Okay so when we win, it's down to either luck, we should be expected to win or poor opposition/tactics from the opposition, but when we lose its down to our inept manager and his failure to consistently achieve mediocrity. Hahaha

Of course nothing at all to do with the fact his good enough to have a career as a Premier League maanger, works with the squad day in/out, overseas transfers and spends hours watching the opposition and devising a tactical plan.

Could you list your achievements for us. Cheers

Boro were higher than us when we beat them not lower, and they were still higher than us when we beat them.

My point before was that everyone now thinks Stoke are crap, and looked like crap. But perhaps they looked bad because we got our tactics right. And they are at the bottom because they had lost to the Top 3 teams in the league. I don't feel sorry for them (especially for the Stoke fans who were looking forward to Palace). But after 15 games I would not be shocked if they are back midtable.

I don't think people are planning a parade. But it seems like for many, when we lose it's "Pardew's Gotta Go" and when we win, it was just because the other teams were crap.

We won big, and we won at home, with good tactics on show. That's something to celebrate.

Fair point, well made.

Perhaps I should've simply said we won games we should have, rather than draw or lose them and then beat top of the table instead.

The point I was making (albeit rather clumsily) is that beating teams either below us or around us will see us clear of any relegation battle. How many 'perceived' 6 pointers did we have in last years run in due to the fact we struggled to beat teams we would have expected to?

The quad seems to have players in it now that are more at ease in these games than before.

ok, I say ... for those who only seek short term answers ... get short term gains.

This model, in football that lots of short term gains can or may lead to consistency. Since there are variables such as injuries, suspensions etc .. can't be predicted.

However, a passionate bench/team of mediocre players have beaten better sides on paper. But you need someone with passion to instill passion.

point is this thread is badly titled, at best, since its too early say and to waste time on, frankly.

Sorry mate I think employing ex-players to support the manager from the same era hasn't proven to be that successful, that's the point. When they aren't qualified or experienced to be precise.

Chris Coleman and the passion the Wales players showed in Euro 2016 come to mind, so they do have relavancy.

And BTW I dont want them to return specifically, just that passion will be fine thanks.

Are you trying to get up me or AP?

Bournemouth 2nd half, Mboro and Stoke were poor AND we were good. Both, not one or the other. Do you understand this? I'm not the only one who noticed this and again this is normal in football. Did you not notice how unchallenged we were at high balls into the box? How 2 players went right to cover Townsend? We played well but Stoke have problems at the moment.

FWIW I heard Ray Houghton on the radio say how good a coach AP was with the youth at Reading. I also thought his Newcastle side played the most professional match at Selhurst in that 1st season. Their players won all their battles and we didn't get a sniff. 0-2 to them.

But to claim that there are not concerns is bollox to be honest and you know it. 4 months or 20 games with one win or something is appalling, James MacArthur and Bolasie out or not. When there were points in the bag we threw them away. Bringing on Sako at Sunderland when leading when he looked like he'd just had double pie and mash and hadn't played for ages and ignored Chungy who was fresh and fit. What happened? We f***ed it up because Sako was out of position and out of shape. There were other subs and decisions badly wrong. There is the option of just shutting up shop for 2 games, getting 2 points and then you may just build some confidence and get some points regardless of anything else. That is again normal, but not here.

Next game, Liverpool at home. In the lead and vs 10 men. Again, points thrown. Don't tell me it's not his fault the keeper McCarthy f***ed it up because AP could play Speroni but won't. I won't go into why because I was told in confidence and you'll think it's 'Anti-Pardew'. And why go chasing the winner and exposing ourselves and then the penalty? Desperation.

I hope AP has seen some of these errors and been highly focused on max points vs the teams we should be beating or as close to it after Sunderland. It's what managers often do at this level. They know where they can or should pick up points and possibly may not or not as likely and apply things accordingly. Sitting deep vs top sides and possibly getting the breaks which are a bonus as you cannot rely on getting it right at Arsenal but nice one if you do. The 2 groups of 4 teams we've been referring to have clearly a difference in ability or difficulty to get results from.

And what the f*** does this mean?

but when we lose its down to our inept manager and his failure to consistently achieve mediocrity

Maybe only you know as usual. Trying to bring something perfectly acceptable and blend it into another discussion to prove I'm wrong and failing. Teams do stay consistently away from the drop for the season or more than 1 season rather than yo-yoing from top 6 down to however low. That is dangerous.

You tell me, your the one that quoted it from another poster saying I wouldn't understand.
Your a clown, in the last couple of months you have slated everything from the running of the club, transfer window, tactics, form and so on.
You was dying for us to have a poor start so you could come back on here and give it the I told you so but it hasn't worked out quite that way yet. So you continue to spout bollocks to suit your agenda, I do love how much it's winding you up tho.

Wow you can look back when we made mistakes be critical and say what we should of/ could of done. Anyone can do that it's not hard is it. Just speak to Gary nevile about how much harder it is to actually predetermime what will happen.

Plus I've got no problem with people criticising the club when they've got it wrong but atleast give praise when it's due. All you do is continue to spout negative crap. Knowing how much it winds you up having pardew in charge makes me like him even more. Feel free to proofread my post and let me know of any mistakes I've made Nige.
