AP says that he is heavily involved in the transfers both in and out and I feel sure that he agreed to these particular ones.
Townsend on paper seemed like a good idea but in reality it has not worked out that way - so far anyway.
Tomkins does look suspect but he has been in and out of the team, playing with a different partner all the time and now in different positions so he deserves the benefit of the doubt.
These two probably need to be given more time but where Townsend is concerned why did we buy a right winger when we had someone better (Wilf) already?

Becuase he was a bargain and people thought he'd be better than he currently is on the LW.

Still very pleased we bought him, on his day he's still our best left winger. Just needs to hit some form / confidenance.

I wonder what he'd be like playing up top with Benteke

I give Parish lots of respect in the Transfer game, because he signed Benteke, and I never thought we'd get it done.

I look at the other £30Million-ish strikers we were going for: Batshuayi, Slimani, or the loan strikers Bony or Zaza, and I thank the stars we got Benteke! He has more goals than all of them combined. Heck Tomkins is outscoring all of them bar Slimani (and he has more goals than all the West Ham Defence combined --they miss him badly).

There is a similar list of big money players brought in by the big clubs doing very little.

As for Townsend, he's been crap except for one game, but hopefully he can get used to playing on the left and synch with his teammates more. There may still be an upside.

But even if he doesn't, there is a long list of players brought in for £13Million-ish that have done Sweet FA. Ignoring the big teams who can waste £20M for someone to sit on the bench, the list of disappointments is long:
Jordon Ibe £15m
Jeff Hendrick £10.5m
Ryan Mason £12.5m
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg £12.75m
Didier Ndong £13.6
Roberto Pereyra £11m
And of course, Yannick Bolasie £25m
(I'm only going by fan complaints here, not detailed stats, but you get the point)

This also doesn't touch the expensive players that have barely played for their teams, like Baston, Success, Ayew, Musa, Boufal.

Palace have been very successful in the Market in my book. I hope they do as well in January.

Completely agree, anyone giving Parish pelters for our transfer activity needs to see a shrink.

No one gets it's 100% right all of the time, and he's come out and said he's trying to move away from buying championship players as he wants to target players at a higher level. Don't think anyone can argue that Mandanda, Tomkins, Andros and Benteke haven't improved the squad. Decent business considering the combined total spent vs other teams spending.

Just be good to get Mandanda back and in to a settled back line.

Obviously Townsend needs to get his A game on, but after he nearly single handedly saved Newcastle I don't think anyone would have expected his form to have dipped as much as it has. So was always worth the punt for that money.

We need a CB that is vocal and organised. And Young at least on loan for the rest of the season. Then I think we're happy till the summer
