Why not Joe Ledley as left back? In his last game (Wales vs Serbia) he was MOTM, has a sweet left foot and not afraid of tackling. Certainly big improvement on Kelly...

There should have been for Swansea. After the first half Kelly was on a booking after continually fouling yet he still came out second half. Townsend looks like he will not play for AP. We need leaders rely on Wilf and Benteke to get us a goal.
Speroni
Ward Dann Tomkins Fryers
Ledley DD
Zaha Cabaye McArthur
Benteke

It's lack of leadership and organisation on the pitch that is one of the main issues for me.

Jedi's gone, I accept that, but in my opinion Dann is a poor leader by comparison. With Dann and Tomkins playing it seems we have no strong characters at the back. Is it coincidence our best spell this season came when Damo and Tomkins were playing and Dann was injured?

Maybe we'll see Flamini/Ledley come in and push Punch out wide now Wickham's out.

Fryers at left back would be interesting. Only because he is an actual left back and so would fully deserve any stick unlik Kelly who is a CB or RB

I ain't got nuthin' funny to say. Sorry.

Dann has fallen apart. Just had the courage to watch Motd and Benteke and Dann were abysmal back there. No defence for Benteke as in recent years Chamakh, Jerome and Wickham have defended manfully.

I must admit I thought the same; personnel-wise we've practically run out of options. It's training (drilling if you like) and tactics that need to be worked on and it's very worrying indeed that Pardew can't admit that. The only personnel change he needs to make is to stop putting Kelly at LB as it's a role he's patently unsuited to.

Spot on. His press conferences are making him look more like King Cnut every week. Suspect he will be washed away soon though.

Who ever thought it was a good idea putting one of our smallest players to defend on the post!

There should have been changes weeks ago, anyone can see Kelly is hopeless at LB.

Only one change required now

Game management is down to the players. Hate on Pardew by all means, but stop exonerating this spineless bunch.

Dann, Delaney, Kelly (comprehensively) and to some extent Ward have all been Pardewed.

I was going to post the same thing about Dann. I think he should be dropped, he's a shadow of the player he was. He's about as likely to get an England call up as me.

I'd play Delaney alongside Tomkins with Ledley at left back, he can't do any worse than Kelly.

I said in the match thread yesterday before the start that the back four needs to be (until Jan window) Tomkins, Dann, Delaney and Ward. Tomkins and Dann just don't work as a pairing? I also think we need Cabaye, McArthur and Ledley in the middle with one of them sitting in front of the back four. Either side of them Zaha and one from Punch or Townsend? Main man up front Benteke. Don't think we have as strong a squad as most of us thought at the season start to make wholesale changes. Not confident that the team I selected is good enough now to keep us up. We need at least 3 defenders brought in the next window if we are to keep going gun ho with this attacking style Pardew wants to play? Only Dann can survive in my opinion?

Goalkeeper could be anyone but I would certainly have Dann and Delaney together again with Ward and Fryers.
I like the idea of Ledley sitting in front of the back 4.
Cabye and McArther in front of him with Punch on the left, Wilf on the right and Benteke central.
