I wonder what would happen if I was interested in a job and sent my representatives along for an interview

the greater the number of intermediaries the more times the deal can be skimmed

Worryingly close to the January window I feel. Must mean someone else is making the decisions about transfers.

Chris Hughton would be my choice. Always done a good job wherever he has been.
Doubt we could get him now, but it would piss off the Seaweeds.

My humble choice as well.

The target list will have been agreed loooong ago. At this point it's with the recruitment specialists and Chairman not the manager.

Would be reassuring to know that is the case.

There is still time for a new manager to express preferences. Palace is a club that tries to ensure that the manager gets players they can owrk with. So as long as a new manager comes in pdq, thier views will be litsened to (I think!)

People who think Mancini would go anywhere near Selhurst park are out of their tiny minds. He is a top 6 manager. Maybe top 8 at a push. He will never come to a small club with an ageing stadium, average training facilities and a paper thin squad. Madness.

Well, he might if we pay him a ridiculous amount of cash but then he would be here for all the wrong reasons. He also doesn't strike me as an Eddie Howe build the club up and graft type somehow.

Sections of our support seem to have quite bizarre delusions of grandeur when it comes to how good they think we (again, by we I mean our ground, training facilities, playing staff and so on) actually are.

Mancini? Maybe in another 4 years time when we have a new stand, a squad with depth, significantly upgraded training, scouting and sports science facilities and therefore a platform for someone like him to come in and hit the ground running.

It's Fat Scam whether you like it or not, we'll finish around top 10 for the next 2-3 seasons then we'll go up to the next level. Let's not think 4 years in the Prem means we're an established team that can run before it can walk. Crazies

Also re. all the whiners hissying about Fat Scam, I think Daniel Storey from F365 sums it up nicely:

'‘If losing to Chelsea was a crime then the prisons would be full, but there is an inevitability to Crystal Palace’s defeats. A large percentage of supporters have begun to accept an impending relegation battle that simply should never be on the cards for a club with these resources.

‘Here’s an experiment: Write out Burnley, Hull, Swansea and Sunderland’s teams on a piece of paper, and then write out the one at Alan Pardew’s disposal. How many from each club get into Palace’s XI? Michael Keane and Steven Defour at Burnley, perhaps. Robert Snodgrass at Hull. Fernando Llorente and Gylfi Sigurdsson at Swansea. Jermain Defoe and Patrick van Aanholt at Sunderland. Not many more, that’s for sure.

‘Yet these are now Palace’s direct rivals, thanks to Pardew’s under-performance. Burnley have two more points than Palace, Sunderland one less and Swansea and Hull three fewer. That should be an embarrassment for a club who bought Christian Benteke, Steve Mandanda, James Tomkins and Andros Townsend this summer.

‘Here’s another, slightly easier, experiment: Imagine how much more Sam Allardyce, sitting in the wings coughing pointedly at opportune moments, could do with this squad. While relegation was no danger, Palace supporters could afford to turn up their noses at Allardyce’s pragmatism. With relegation a growing possibility, there is no counter-argument to the logic."

Is that the 8th from top WBA you are talking about? I'd rather win 1-0 dirty than lose 3-4 pretty.

None of these, please.
Sam is damaged goods, and not the sort of manager one could or should feel comfortable with.
Worth saying that the type of football we have been playing is not the problem. It is the manager's lack of strength of character to make sure we win games when we're playing well, or defend with purpose when we need to.
Roy Hodgson for me any day. The players let him down for England. He would be a great asset.
