I'm not sure who the people wanting to sell CB think is waiting in the wings to come in and be our saviour when above average Championship strikers are going for 15m. The only way I can see there being any truth in the rumour is if a) there's some truth to 40m+ potential offers from China, and b) CB has given some indication he'd be interested in going. But 40m would buy us 3 average Prem players in places we need them: Centre back, left back and left wing; SP might stump up a bit more for an average Prem centre mid; and that leaves us relying on Campbell and a loanee prone to injury to get us enough goals to stay up. I hope this is not true and Benteke stays. Benteke and Remy partnership has goals a plenty in it. we may here more in fridays press conference on this.

I agree with the last post. Benteke's ability with Remy's agility and speed should give us a real goal threat. And if we compare Benteke with Llorente in the Swansea match, Llorente was always doing knock downs to runners around him while Benteke was having to control and pass in isolation, and we just do not have runners who are close to him. I think he has been good for us without being great, but it's early days and apart from a brief period with Wickham he hasn't played up front with another striker. He has to stay.

If we sell Benteke for what we paid or less, we might aswell pack up and settle for the Championship next season. He's the best goalscorer I ever remember us having, and he's got a 1 in 2 record for us. If we sell him, how much can we realistically strengthen for £30m in today's market that is tried and tested in this league? Absolutely ridiculous some of you are.
