he is that important to us.

Well we were losing with him and we are losing without him.

Hopefully Sam can improve the Team, then when Wilf comes back it will be like a new signing, and Wilf improves it even more.

The peak of a footballers career would be playing for your country/playing in world cups/winning trophies - this competition and commitment to Ivory Coast gives him the chance to do all three. We should congratulate him, not grill him.

It's not Wilf's fault we are in this mess. He, like all players have to look after his own interests and aspirations, the same as we all do.

If anyone is to blame its Southgate, Allardyce & Woy for snubbing him for so long when he should clearly have been in the England squad.

How anyone can ridicule a player for playing for their country is beyond me. England's loss is Ivory Coast's gain but whoever he plays for, he is playing at the highest level and when he started out as a footballer his aim will always have been to play internationally.

We should be supporting him, not trying to place blame.

Bet Sam wishes he'd picked him for England now.

I feel let down by him, Whilst he is out on a holiday playing in a tin pot tournament making up dance routines the club that pay his wages are struggling and need his services. He was happy not to play in the AFCON tournament before Pardew was sacked but changed his mind. Our chairman and new manager should have insisted on him staying. by the time he gets back we could be adrift. The loyalty should be to your club at times like this.

Oh please. He's been by far our best player this term, best defender, most creative, hardest worker and importantly most improved under Pardew. My opinion is that he's gutted at pards departure and that his overwhelming contribution still hasn't earnt him a deserved England call up. Based on the above I'd say he's highly entitled to focus on something new, something positive and something that gives him a sense of belonging. We're a sinking ship, one which has depended on him more than anyone else. He's earnt the right to do what he wants in my book.

this with f***ing massive bells on...the only time weve looked anything like a team under crooked sam was 2nd half agaijst swansea when he swallowed his pride & moved wilf back onto the right wing...two & a half games to late.

wilf is our talisman, he makes things happen...in reality parish & crookedd sam need to convince him to stay with us past the summer, as without him we are a shell of a team.

stats prove he is one of the best winger in the PL this season...we need to pay him the same as bentekkers to keep him happy at palace.

I'd think twice about signing any African player if I were a club owner, all the time the tournament is held every other season. It's ridiculous that the club is expected to lose probably one or more of their best players for so long on a regular basis.

If Wilf wins the African Cup of Nations maybe they will do a victory parade through Selhurst and South Norwood on an open top bus.

The club shop could sell commemorative T shirts.

Surely palace should think of the commercial spin offs

We need to have long term thoughts.

In friendlies Wilf has had an assist and a goal.

Assuming he does the business in Africa (multiple assists and goals in each match without being booked for diving (or being provoked into going down - Mr Bailley of Man United is one worry - he will have given an invitation to PL referees to protect him.

Provided our squad see that movement off the ball is needed from them, it will be win win all the way.

So you would go without one or more of your, potentially, best players indefinatly rather than have them in your squad year round except 6 weeks in every 24 months?
