Yep needs to get his facts right...
I seriously can't see how anyone doesn't think this was a much better performance today. When you look at the way we played against Swansea and West ham, this was miles better. If we play like this against bournemouth Sunderland and Middlesborough we will surely pick up ppints. ..

Is that why the BBC and the commentators said two? Also, one shot hit the post too.

Was your latest claim like your previous one, about knowing for a fact that there were over 200+ players who were unhappy?

If you come to a fork in the road, take it.

Number 1, it frees up more attacking wingbacks which suits Schlupp down to the ground and Ward has his moments going forwards. For a team leaking goals it adds an extra man whilst defending but also allowed us to play 2 strikers and keep a relatively solid midfield.

Number 2, we were playing a better team who also deployed the same system so we tried to nullify them whilst getting our strongest 11 out. On both counts it worked until we were down to 10 but then, 10 vs 11 is always a disadvantage.

All in all, whether you like the system or not we stopped a form team, who had banged 4 goals past one of the best in the league, from battering us and nearly got a vital point that we desperately need.

OK, I'd agree about the system based on your reasoning that Everton was a stronger side and the 3-5-2 system was to make it harder for them to get to the goal.

However, Palace was playing at home. I mean, Everton is not that big of a team, not one we should be afraid of. At least not on home ground. The thing is, it wasn't just for this match. Allardyce will use this same system against Sunderland, Swansea, Hull or Bournemouth. How many points will be added until the end of the season with 3-5-2?

You're right about Schlupp. He can play higher in this system. Though Ward as right wing is really really poor. That's the difference between a team like Everton playing this system with Coleman and Baines, who are both excellent crossers and proven offensive throughout the years and a team like Palace playing with unproven Schlupp and defensive Ward.

And I disagree with your argument that the best way to counter a team playing 3-5-2 is by playing a similar formation.

The system we have employed for he last year clearly wasn't working. No point doing the same thing every week with a group of players that fail to succeed at it.
Wards days are clearly numbered, as he has gone backwards in performances consistently. I see Zaha being used there.
Any success rest on Remy getting back to full fitness and striking up a partnership with Benteke.

I think we looked much more comfortable at the back today. Main problem for me was that Everton marked Schlupp really tightly when we tried to play out from the back and let Ward have it and from there we had few options as ward doesn't go past people or make runs in the San me way as Victor Moses say does for Chelsea.

What you're failing to grasp is the team lacks confidence in their own ability. Everton are a very good attacking side and are in good form. Our record at home since we came up to the Prem had been dire, we've always been a better team away from home. The best we could hope to do today was hold on for a clean sheet and try to nick a goal from a set piece or on the break. We almost did too. I'm not sure what you are/were really expecting us to do against Everton, that system as our team stands makes us look more solid and more of a unit than we have done for a while. Perhaps with new additions we will play differently against other teams but we need to get points and confidence on the board first and if that's the formation we use to do it then happy days, it sure won't be 4-4-2.
