If he's "top draw", "class" and a "great signing", how is it he can't get into the Leipzig side? Also, are they hoping to get their £13m back, as he's only been there four months?

Like to see this one over the line. Burke is very quick but built like Sako so not easily bullied by full backs.

Well I'm wondering why we didn't go for Lookman from Charlton....only a cameo appearance against us on Saturday, but looked sharp and not overwhelmed by the step up into the PL.

Yes they did, and I have some concerns as to whether a 19 year old, who can't get into a newly promoted side, would be able to make any sort of impact in a PL relegation battle. It hasn't helped having Zaha and Townsend 'squabbling' over the right-side berth, and I can't see how adding a less experienced name to the fray will help, even if AT leaves. If, God forbid, WZ is injured, we have Kaikai as cover.

I think we made enquiries about both Lookman and Burke in Summer. At the price quoted we went elsewhere - Townsend a proven EPL player at same price seemed a better bet. (in hindsight maybe not) Burke is a quality player and if Townsend wants to go to Newcastlw with them paying all his wages, a loan fee with an binding agreement to buy back if they are promoted at a figure in excess of we paid how can we lose?

I wonder if this signing is looking at a possible push to move Zaha into the striker role. From the limited highlights I've seen of the AFCON he seems to have played as a striker in some of the friendlies and games so far. As we saw at the AMEX, he can be effective. We can't rely on Remy to stay fit, so possibly a rotation of Remy/Zaha as the second striker with Burke/Townsend on the right and Sclupp/PvA on the left? Obviously when Remy is fit/playing, Zaha goes back on the right. Just a thought anyway...

Some people chatting absolute nonsense about Leipzig. Yeah they may have been recently promoted but they are the German equivalent of Man City. They are hugely controversial as they are trying to buy success and seem to be doing it. Second in the Bundesliga, their squad is cracking and a player who isn't good enough for them isn't necessarily not good enough for us. Burke is 19 and he knows the English game, his brief spell in Germany won't make him any worse a player. We were supposedly interested in the summer and I'd love him here. If it's a loan I imagine there will be an option to buy at the end should we stay up.
