he's the victim of a terrible owner. a know-nothing, care-nothing owner.

kroenke likes real estate. well, he likes money but can only understand the basic knuckle-dragging basic rules of real estate. know one knows why he ties it with sports, which he clearly doesn't know about, or care about.

similar path here in his US teams: buy, put in place a leader who is decent - let them run everything (well above their skills). only make a change until the fans absolutely revolt.

wenger given way more responsibility than he could handle, or should. b/c stan is lazy. AW took the bait and now he'll be sacrificed b/c the fans will finally vote with their feet, which is all stan cares about.

AW is the supporters best friend. if he leaves, that leaves stan with multiple openings, and he'll hire the wrong person for every opening. those fans think simeone is coming - no chance.

He reminds me of Compte Frou-Frou in Blackadder II.

I wish we could have a manager as incompetent, unskilled and unsuccessful as Wenger. He'll be gone at the end of the season, and I suspect that they'll do as well as United without Fergie.

'poor' is one word I would never use/associate with AW.
Over his long - generally successful - career he must have earned mega millions!
As for Arsenal - they have been in top four EPL clubs for most if not all of AW's tenure. Will be interesting to see if they will emulate Man Utd - post Ferguson - if AW does walk in the summer.

a relative sense. the man was allowed to go in way over his skis: managing the teams, scouting, operations, etc.

my badly stated point was more about how bad ownership/leadership can hinder even massive clubs' success.

if he leaves, the future success depends on whether they bring in the right support to the new manager. do they let him handle everything the way AW has? probably not a good chance of success that way.

Still used to see him eating at the Ask Pizza place in the Whetstone the cheapskate though. Earning £4m+ a year and probably getting the 3 courses for £15 meal deal still.

Is that a deliberate analogy to his reputation for penny pinching at Arsenal?

No just one of those wonderful moments where true life imitates art. Or some other bollocks like that.

But I have genuinely seen him in the Ask in Whetstone (which I think closed down a couple of months ago). The waiter delighted in telling us he came in a lot.

He lives somewhere around Totteridge Lane I think which is just up the road from the restaurant.
