F*** knows. Should be in though because he can't play after being kicked in the chibbs by a bin dipper whose name I can't spell and who should have been sent off but wasn't.

I disagree I'm afraid.
Yes - the referees and linesmen do their best and decisions work both ways over the course of 38 games but Saturday was a bad one.
The offside decision was simple and no flag should have been raised at all.
He obviously wasn't watching properly, got caught out and so gave the easy decision which had he not would likely have resulted in us playing against ten men.
Would we have beaten them - who knows - but we would have stood more chance.
Spurs in the week - he books their man for a foul and he then commits a worse one right in front of the ref's nose and gets away with it.
Would we have got the same leniency - who knows - doubtful though.
I think is is the inconsistency between refereees but even more so inconsistent decisions taken in one game that really get to me.

True. Although of course Clattenburg in the cup final was entirely consistent - he got the advantage rule wrong again and again, at least as far as Palace were affected.

Please not put the words Jamesey and "Willo" in the same sentence. Jamesey is a superb writer, technically accomplished with wonderful dry and witty insights. "Willo" has boxed himself into a corner where he defends one of the worst refs in football. He puts silly "inverted commas" around the wrong words too.

If "Boxing oneself in a corner" is supporting a referee who is considered one of the best in the World then I am more than happy to be accused of it.

NO referee is perfect of course, we shouldn't expect this of anyone, but Clattenburg has showed a level of competence over a long period which has resulted in accolades from those who know a thing or two about the profession - just ask Pierluigi Collina and the like.

We won't agree on this and I won't change my mind.We have polarised views and "Never the twain shall meet".

Sepp Blatter was considered the best in the world at running international football administrations. That went well, didn't it?

I am surprised at Collina, who was a superb referee in his day, tarninshing what was a great reputation by aligning himself with someone who isn't fit to clean his boots. I can't imagine Collina doing something as stupid as getting caught on camera doing bribery gags with the ambassador of a club he was about to ref in a cup final - or for that matter even being in the same room at that particular time.

I point out serious referee errors wherever I see them, regardless of our performance or the result. Four red card offences not properly dealt with in three games is just not good enough, and we've got a player out injured (Tomkins) as a result of one of them and Wilf could've had a broken arm when he got thrown into the hoarding against Spurs. So this is not trivial or "just one of those things".

At no point did I blame the result of Saturday's match on the officials. I merely pointed out that they had made a very serious error, and you can't deny that it changed the course of that game, even though we may still have lost it.

It isn't good enough and I'm not going to apologise for saying so.

Watford were pretty incensed by Luka's wild lunge in the build up to our goal in the recent game, but we weren't slagging off the referee then.

I was slightly surprised that he got away with that given the colours of his shirt, it is true. I thought it was worth a yellow at the time, but red cards can certainly be dished out for that sort of thing. There was some comment on the match thread at the time I think, and I worry that a ref is going to send Milivojevic off one of these days because that isn't the only time he's sailed close to the wind.

OTOH we've had quite a number of really preposterous bookings lately. But for the grace of God Wilf could be sent off for being fouled twice.

I don't disagree, but the point is we can't get angry about referees when it only happens to us.

Andros' handball against Chelsea was another good example of a decision that definitely went our way. Those two decisions probably earned us an extra four points.

But those are four points which we could have afforded if *all* decisions were correct, because we've lost more on the swings than we've gained on the roundabouts. So that would've been ... well, maybe not quite fair, depending on your view of the incidents, but certainly less unpalatable.

I thought Townsend's handball was accidental, FWIW, but again we've seen penalties given for handball when the ball had hit the player on the chest, and when the handling took place outside the area. It's a lottery and whilst you still have a chance the cards do seem to be stacked a certain way.

Rewind 20 years fast forward 20 years and nothing will change in regards to officials decisions at any level, moan moan moan is all it will be, on forums, tv and radio football shows..

Unless robots and computers get involved then nothing will change, I manage a boys team and when I got involved with it 3 years ago I made a conscious to accept absolutely every decision made by a 'Dad linesman' or any ref and by god have I nearly blown up inside a few times but this policy has overall made the whole experience manageable besides setting a good example to the kids.

Try it.
