Parrot

They've already had chances whilst on loan and neither have been remarkable. They just haven't shown the spark of a Zaha, Clyne or even a Williams. If they were still below the age limit, then perhaps they could occasionally feature but they're both way below the standard required in a Premiership squad. Next season, quality in depth is going to be essential and, IMO, it's far too risky to include them. At this level, we need Premiership quality players across the whole squad.

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

Agree with Parrot. They have got to a better option than Remy. Got to develope our youngsters.

Cannot judge players until they've been given the opportunity

We had a lot of injuries this season, but it's clearly shown the lack of quality in the squad. A lot of fans thought this is the best squad we assembled. We can all blame pardew, he is part of the problem but the likes of puncheon, Delaney and many others are not up to prem anymore. If I was big Sam I would only keep Zaha,Benteke, Townsend and cabaye. The rest have massively let us down this season. Where's the James mcarthur of 2016. Even luka not as good as we first thought. It a big summer ahead to rectify a very poor squad. It proves that Sam doesn't trust the subs on the bench.

Your thoughts on our squad

How do propose to get around EUFA's FFP rules by executing this plan of action?

You are talking a load of crap. A good scouting network to find new players is what's needed, not just splashing out cash on overpriced players with greedy agents.
It is impossible to clear out a squad of players, they are on contracts, if nobody is going to offer to buy them, your stuck with them. This is the problem every new manager has, they inherit players they don't want. As a club we cant afford to just ignore them, we have to try and get the best out of them and get them playing.
I think far to many posters on here think the Football Manager game is reality.

Throw in another lower-prem standard centre half to give us injury / tiredness cover, plus a starting-quality right back. Add one more midfielder of a standard higher than the current level of Punch.

This season has shown up how terribly thin our squad actually is and how we really do need 15-18 Prem standard players rather than hoping to get by with perhaps 8 or 9 (at the start of the season).

The judgement is already in. They haven't particularly shone whilst on loan. No grounds whatsoever to believe they'd perform any better in the Premiership. If either Boateng or Kaikai showed the promise to perform at the highest level, they'd have demonstrated it by now.

I've never played football manager, but I have seen our chairman splash ridiculous money on average players this winter because we failed to spend enough in the Summer when better players are available. If we have average players to offload on contracts it's because we signed them in the first place. Our record on transfers has been mixed to say the least and a failure to spend big in the summer might yet cost us our place in the Premier League. The current ownership has had plenty of time to build a good scouting network and like all owners coming from other business, they need several years to understand how football works.

Parish will be choking on his champagne if he reads this.

This season we splashed a staggering £30m on Benteke, whose 14 goals give us a chance of staying up.

We also did £13m on an England international (Andros) and during the January window Parish spent another £30m-odd.

As a club we have thrown absolutely mental money at it.

We actually spent less than 10 million net in transfer fees in the Summer and then had to splash 40 million in panic buys in January.
Does that make sense to you?

We need another forward with CB and Connor. MUST buy a number 10 and bench Punch. A player like Juan Mata would be great. Luka and Cabaye have been great but we need a back up. Macca not good enough. Wardy not good enough too. Icing on cake would be Sakho, Tomkins was starting to look the part beside him. If Pape returns he could push PVA and Schlupp at LB

The front 3, Luka and Yoyo, three of the back four and Henessey are all good to great - for a top first XI just Punch and Ward need to be upgraded. The problem isn't the team it's the squad - one or two injuries in key places and we really suffer - Kelly hasn't been a bad squad player, but not as good as Hangeland was - you CAN make shrewd value aquistions, but our second XI has all this Chungy, Mutchy, Sako-ey championship quality to it - it'll only take a couple of signings to get the first XI competitive, but it's the back-up players and the competition for places that probably guarantee the mid table security we've lacked in each of our four prem campaigns. The front-line part of the squad has undoubtedly progressed during our time in the prem, remember Gabbidon, Moxey, O'Keefe and KG played a lot of games in our first season back - they wouldn't get a sniff today. But we still need to add regularly in the windows - we'll have Conor and Benteke next season, so a striker isn't first priority, a young winger to keep Andros and Wilf up to their game, two proper midfielders, a right back and a centre back (hopefully but unlikely Sakho). And a keeper. That's a miniumum of five prob more like six to keep us competitive. We'd be carrying Punch and Ward next season and definitely have to move on there. Mind you I've got this strange feeling Puncheon might be Big Sam's Kevin Nolan.

What do people think the budget is? I think we will have to receive more than we spend because we pushed the boat out in Jan. (I know some will disagree and would sincerely love to hear why). I'd happily see the back of Schlupp if we could get anywhere near the 11m or so we reportedly paid for him.

If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities.
