I tend to avoid as far as possible and practicable using animal animal products for clothing. I do have a wool blend suit, my steering wheel on my car is leather, but mostly I buy cotton/synthetic and from vegetarian shoe shops

I don't keep animals, I like them to be wild and free - and I'm sure some people look after animals wonderfully well

Oh and to answer your question, 20 miles into my last marathon I definitely would've said I am self destrctive. I don't necessarily equate self destruction with insanity though. But then I'm not qualified to evaluate what represents sanity. Despite jokingly calling you a crackpot before you call me on it!
