Because we had a shocking manager.

Sam had turned our home form around by the end of the season.

Last seven home games: Wins against Middlesbrough, Arsenal, Hull, Watford, drew with Leicester. More work to be done but I'd say our home form was massively improving.

Our fans are amazing and definitely a 12 man.

Let's get right behind the team and new management and push for a great start.

No reason we shouldn't be aiming for three wins at the start of the season.

Huddersfield H
Liverpool A
Burnley H

Top of the table in August please.

COYP!!

Anyone who was at the Arsenal home game last season wouldn't question the impact the home crowd can make. Gave me goosebumps and bar Sanchez you literally saw the Arsenal players melt.

Completely agree.

FdB brought through players like Toby Alderweireld, Daley Blind, and Jasper Cillessen through. He's pro a solid defence and likes his wingers to break. He really should be a good fit.

The fact that we are arguing over whether Frank De Boer has the credentials to manage us shows how far we have come in 4 years.

Lombardo was very much a stop gap because of the circumstances

I know that. He was still our first non british manager, making fdb the second (if he accepts).

It can be good. But don't you think it's going to take quite a while?

Currently there is no grade 1 academy. Just a pitch. To have success you need to get that 10 year old choose us. That's 10 years for him to become a pro plus the years it'll take for us to get the academy operating to a high standard. Those things might matter more than de Boer being manager who the kid may barely ever speak to, and even his dad may not have known as a player. And how long will De Boer stick around for anyway?

Yes it can be improved massively but it's a generation away from attracting the best kids who'll then become professional prem players. But we could buy them in in their later teens.

Once they get the new training ground sorted cat 1 status shouldn't be an issue. I know that the club are actively persuing this and have a site identified but are talking with the authority concerned to ensure it can go ahead before anything is announced.

Juggling that..the new stand and finding a new manager is extremely time consuming...understandably

I'd avoid any references to his time at Rangers in that context if I were you

Very good, CF.

YT was that Cup game the one Venables missed a last minute penalty ?

I'm pretty sure it was, AE1, but I confess I'd forgotten about that until you mentioned it. Excellent recollection on your part.

I wonder how FdB teams measure up on the old spot-kicks, because we could do with converting a higher proportion of 'em.

Milivojevic seems to be your man for this.

Holding the club back, I know it's a joke isn't it. We should be going for Europe and looking to be an established top 8 team, said Charlton, Leeds, Blackburn, Bolton.
agree we should be positive about the appointment (if it happens) but need to be realistic. I don't see realism as negative.

Leeds ,Blackburn and Bolton all had top 8 finishes and played in Europe and were the victims of being either poorly run and overspending or failing to replace good managers , nothing to to with fan pressure or mentality , charlton made a poor managerial appointment in dowie after fan pressure for the club to kick on , fair enough , but no one could of predicted the fall out from losing curbishley.

Fan pressure or negativity has never relegated any club and never will. My point was to be careful not to over expect or push to achieve something we aren't ready for and wishing for unrealistic expectations.
To think fans mentality is holding the club back is ridiculous. Sorry to let anyone know but they don't care that much about our thoughts.

Having just read Ronald de Boer's assessment of what his brother would bring to Palace and how he wants to keep the ball on the floor, I'd like to be a fly on the wall at the first training session.

Hi Frank, this is Damien.

'Schhhooo Damien sccchhooooow me what you can do.'

Hooooooof.
