Plymouth finished 2nd last season - marvellous achievement particularly as many players from the previous season left and manager Derek Adams had to re-build his squad.Terrific stuff.

One of the players who remained from the previous season was Graham Carey and he was playing at a level below his qualities.Very good left-foot and scores goals.
Adams who signed him on a 'Free' from Ross Co also managed him at the Scottish club.

Thanks I'll be able to sleep easy tonight.

Collective positivity will only help push us forward.

Parish has spoken about it before and I believe in it myself.

From Ronald De Boer talking on talksport

"I know they are talking and I think it is just little terms like coaching staff, but I don't see any problems."

Ronald de Boer confirmed that he was unlikely to be joining his twin brother, but hinted that he could work with members of the existing staff at Palace.

"I will be on the phone regularly, but I will do my work from Holland," he said.

"He will do it with his coaching staff and people who are already there."

If you want negativity then you'll get a bit more in Jordan's Talksport interview on the HOL homepage. Although it's not negative, it's a bit more meh about the appointment with regards to the here and now football in the prem issue. And it's not just bitter anti Parish stuff.

Jordan spoke about Silva over Frank as Frank only really has Dutch league experience. Similar to my opinion weeks ago. Then there's Pellegrino who has English football experience, but if he prefers Southampton there's little we can do about that. Jordan didn't mention Pellegrino. Southampton have possibly chosen wrongly and should've gone with Frank.

Jordan would do well to read the article on the de Boer philosophy thread. Puts a lot of fears to rest, but he'll need Sammy Lee IMO and possibly a word in his ear to not go too open too quickly. All managers now know how to defend behind the ball, as will Frank, but there's also a bit of discipline and wisdom required to not develop things too fast. We just had Sam who knew how to exploit the opposition trying to break us down. Something like that and a bit of progression in style but not too much is what I'm hoping Sammy Lee stressed in his input. Sammy could be just as valued as before.

Alan Brazil and Mickey Quinn just went onto say 'total football, attractive, entertaining stuff but might fail' etc but I suppose that's what a lot would say without either watching Ajax for 5 years or reading the philosophy article.

Oh and at the start Jordan was positive about Silva but then later said we should look at English managers as we've already done, but as I said, we should've appointed Silva. Maybe he'd alter that to English experience. Only heard it once but could be another Jordan contradiction, or just a preference if his favourite choice didn't want the job.

Take care - very thin line between positivity and over-expectation. Nothing wrong with keeping feet on ground and supporting the club to develop at a sensible and sustainable pace

Care to tell us why he thinks this, or didn't you bother asking him?

The short version:

- Dutch teams don't know how to defend
- Dutch managers don't know how to get their teams to defend and can't be bothered to
- De Boer will try and do 'total football', it's the only thing he knows
- Which works if you're Ajax in a league full of micky mouse Dutch outfits, but good luck as one of the lower league prem teams.

On the plus side, he was even more scathing about Dortmund appointing Bosz: he gave de Boer the credit for the Ajax of last season, Bosz is an unknown quantity and WTF do Dortmund think they're doing appointing him? He doubts they know themselves why.

I completely agree. Since they took over I was all for maximising our potential in the short and long term and had no time for 'relegation so be it' cr@p or let's give Pardew another 6 months (5 year contract ahem), or s0d that not even another 6 games for 1 win.

I've had plenty of debate and arguments since 2010 took over on this. God the worst was SW2Eagle. He was so content with mediocrity when more was achievable I'm sure he was a rival fan. Us trying for promotion in what looked like Zaha's last season at the time a case in point. (Yes I know he was top class in the championship but so is Tom Ince and no good to date in the prem. Maybe there's a big leap of a couple of years for top attacking championship players to prem class)

Although Frank will be our first non British boss i think the Dutch are the the most similar race to ourselves. They all speak English will be fine with English culture etc. Hes the nearest thing to an English boss we could find who isnt actually English

Yes, apparently his real name was JKF.

All valid concerns. Keeping Sammy et al is vital for a safe beginning or I'd be quite anxious we'd have more of the first half vs Bournemouth last season or conceding 2 goals from our own corners at Burnley. Discipline and the basics cannot be overestimated.

But also that philosophy article does say Frank is flexible vs big sides. Defending deep, the usual stuff.
