I am reliably informed by one of my contacts that Silva
• Took Estoril up immediately
• Won Manager of the Year
• Left them 4th in the top tier
• Won Sporting's first cup in 7 years
• 17 consecutive wins at Olympiakos
• 8 wins from 22 games at Hull
• 55% win ratio as a manager

I say one of my contacts, HLTCO on Twitter

I too was reliably informed by a source that Silva is better than Willo claims. That same source indicates that Willo is Trolley. Obviously I cannot betray a confidence but I have reason to believe, via reliable means, he also supports Brighton.

I still stand firmly by my sentiments.

I totally accept that he won titles in Portugal and Greece so well done to him but were the achievements that great when one looks at the bigger picture ?
If they WERE he would have been touted by much bigger clubs than Hull and Hull, at the bottom of the PL, would not have been able to entice him to the club.

So he arrived as a relative "Unknown" on the back of what I deem to be modest achievements (Bigger picture again!) he then has a "Negative" in that he gets relegated (Albeit extenuating circumstances) and all of a sudden he is lauded, is "Flavour of the month", the next Pochettino, the next Mourinho etc etc.

I just think many have gone "Overboard" in their praise of him based on his record.I'm NOT saying that he couldn't do really well in the future but let's NOT get carried away at the present time.

In the position Palace are at present the club wouldn't be able to attract a manager like Mourinho or Pochettino,or anyone else who has a fantastic track record of high achievment, but it IS possible that the club could attract the "next Mourinho"; someone with the potential to achieve beyond what, so far, his track record in England has shown. The problem is identifying that man.

The indications are that Marco Silva may well have what it takes.

Hull were able to attract him as he wanted to manage in the Premiership to further his career, and clubs in the top six or seven were able to attract a bigger mane, so he had to settle for a club willing to take a chance on him. Pochettino was in a similar position when he first took over at Southampton and he didn't do too badly there.

The only real problem is that if he were to be successful at Palace it is quite probable that a top six club would be in the market for him in a couple of years and he would be off. That's worth a risk though, in my view.

If you wanted the "next Mourinho" all you'd have to do is go down to the Looney bin, find yourself a grumpy ranting bampot who's been hitting the donuts a bit, and stick a suit on him.

What really has he achieved in Portugal and Greece ?
Winning the league with Olympiakos who win it virtually every year, in fact have won it 16 times since 2000!
Winning the cup in Portugal with Sporting who are only 1 of 3 teams who win anything there.
If his achievements were that great, Hull probably wouldn't have been able to entice him to the club.
Let's put this all in perspective and not go "Overboard" please.

Really - why on earth would we want a manager who 'wins things'?

Much better to get in a old hack like Hodgeson :-/

Silva looks the best of the bunch and has the potential to take us forward. Or we could keep doing the same thing. I know which I prefer....

Presumably Luka played under him at
Olympiacos and Parish & Co would get his view if this guy is a serious contender?

Not sure this guy is the answer. Hull were hardly the benchmark we should be aiming for. I'd hate to see us defending like that at set pieces every week! I accept the choices aren't great but IMO the fans who go and watch every week are usually a good barometer of how good a manager is. Fulham fans are very worried they may might lose Jokanavic and the Watford fans couldn't understand why he never got the job after he took them to promotion - playing really attacking football whilst being defensively solid. He is good age and Is hungry to make his name in the Premier League. I wouldn't be too disappointed with him.

Dyche has done well at Burnley to keep them up no doubt about that - but they play dull football! Not sure he'd leave the security of a job where he will get the benefit of the doubt when times get tough next season , to come to us and have to prove hims of all over again.

Nah would rather Silva.i think he would've kept Hull up had he had a full season.

I feel he can attract better players to the club also.

Dyche good manager yes but will only bring in high end championship players.
