If the DUP, SNP and Sinn Fein stood in elections across the UK - Fair enough. But their interests are not even remotely representative of the UK as a whole.

While I support peoples right to protest peacefully I really find it distasteful in the extreme when pressure groups hijack other peoples misfortune and grief to further their own, often totally unrepresentative, agendas.

79 people at least burned to death in a fire, that the UK Fire Service provision had no real capacity to deal with, and the building contributed to. It seems certain that most of them died for economic reasons. Economic reasons that they themselves did not benefit from. Its one thing to die because you bought a ridiculous sports car and lost control. Its another thing to die because someone else bought a ridiculous sports car and lost control. People should be angry. And its not really surprising that political parties that represent 'social interest' over capital, would also be angry. Those that claim to represent the electorate should be angry on their behalf. I find it staggering that we would think otherwise. If we just sit passively, wave some signs in the designated 'protest zone', and wait, nothing really will happen. Grenfell should be pollicised by the left - Social Housing is a left wing issue. It has been since the days of inception of the Labour party.

Can someone fill me in - what are they actually protesting about? There has just been an election - the chance to kick out the government. The Tories were firmly given a bloody nose (I was one who deserted them) but they won the most seats legitimately. To say most people have now proved they are against austerity is very reductionist - there are as many reasons for people to vote as there are people. It's the same argument as saying "shut up about brexit, because 90% of people just voted for parties supporting brexit, so clearly there is now a massive majority in favour". People vote on the entire manifesto of plans - some would be swayed by spending pledges, some by defence policy, some by any number of other things. Looking forward to the chants of "What do we want? We don't know. "When do we want it? Now!"

Blowing trumpets at frightened foxes.
