My problem with friendlies is never having much team cohesion because of the constant experimenting. It's like trying to follow the line changes in Ice Hockey.

I recall when my wife first started coming with me to 'Selhurst Park' (Early 80s) she told me off for my 'Industrial Language' adding that there was an old lady behind us knitting and she would be deeply offended by it !

I get told off for clapping loudly. I always used to get tickets for block L of the Holmesdale as it was above all the noise but without the commitment of having to be singing for a full 90 minutes. We'd pitch up and she'd start moaning "God it's loud", "Why have they bought a drum?" and "Can't you clap a bit more quietly?"

I mean I love her but it's a good job she supports Birmingham City if she's into people being as quiet as possible at a football match.

Back in the 80s there used to be a chap in the 'Directors Box' who used to bring a stopwatch with him to see how much more time was left to play ! This was before the days of the '4th official' and electronic time added-on equipment.
