That Bloomberg is now being targeted by the Trumpians suggests he is being taken seriously as a real threat.

Trump doesn't attack anyone who isn't a threat to him.

Who doesn't have a few things in their past that could be resurrected into a new environment and used to question your character?

However, this isn't the disaster it might appear at first sight. With careful management it might actually work for him. Being tough on crime rates well with many people, whatever their ethnic group might be. That poor areas might have more crime is hardly a revolutionary thought either. I don't think he will lose too many actual voters as a result of this and might actually gain a few.

We will see how it plays out.

If the US military had made the determination and had quietly arranged to carry it out then I would have more sympathy. If the President had simply welcomed the fact that US intelligence indicated that an Iranian general had been killed by unknown forces then I could accept it.

It's the timing and use of the event for domestic political purposes which disturbs me.

Conducting warfare overseas to win votes at home ought to be condemned by us all, whichever President is involved.

An unfortunate downing of a plane.

Gloss over that. It was Trumps rescue.

If Trump downed that plane, KILL THE B'STARD

The Iranians have taken responsibility for the destruction of the plane.

If there was the slightest chance it was done by the uS military on Trump's orders then not only would the Iranians be saying so I think the military would have refused to comply with the order.

It knocked the Iranians backwards and played right into Trump's hands at a time he needed it most but he wasn't involved.

It won't though be the last act in this drama. There is now a new command who will be planning revenge. These things are never forgotten.

Watching 2015's 'The Big Short'.

In it the Brad Pitt character berates the two he is mentoring to bet against the economy telling them that for every 1 percent increase in unemployment 40, 0000 people die.

I looked into this and it seems it's a little overestimate but still a basic truth.

In the USA, approximately 1500 people per year die if unemployment goes up 1%, while globally it is around 30,000 per year for each 1% increase in unemployment.

So that 'Orange Man Bad' guy, in reality.....he's a life saver.

One of my favourite bits in the film. Don’t mind you being rich, ‘‘no high fives’’, but have a little decorum about it, don’t embarrass me and be aware of the consequences and losers from market changes and your change in fortune. Brad Pitt is a cool mo fo even when he’s playing a non cool (real life) character.

Katie Hopkins is a great deal more than just a "nationalist". She is a professional trouble maker, attention seeker and sh*t stirrer. Her Wiki entry includes:-

"Throughout her career, Hopkins' social media presence and outspoken views, specifically regarding UK politics, social class, obesity, migrants and race, have attracted controversy, criticism, media scrutiny, protests and petitions. She has been accused of racism by journalists, advocacy groups and politicians for her comments about migrants. In 2016, Mail Online was forced to pay £150,000 to a Muslim family whom Hopkins had falsely accused of extremist links. She has also developed a reputation for having disputes with public figures on Twitter. In the 2017 libel case Monroe v Hopkins, Hopkins was required to pay £24,000 in damages and £107,000 in legal costs to Jack Monroe after making defamatory remarks on Twitter. Her role at LBC was terminated in May 2017 following her comments on Twitter about the Manchester Arena bombing. She is frequently described by the media as a far-right political commentator."

That she supports Donald Trump is completely in tune with her views.

That she supports the "white replacement conspiracy theory", held by at least one poster here, might explain his enthusiasm for her.

She really isn't a very nice lady though is she?

It's not about Hopkins, which is a separate debate, it's about the video.

Clutching at straws.

What video?

All I find is a deleted tweet.

Everything actually there was from Hopkins.

That video wasn't "nationalists bringing the world together"!

It was two right wing populists staging a PR event for their own aggrandisement. It was supposed to end with the signing of a "trade deal" but that failed to materialise. I wonder why? Did Trump try one of his bully boy "negotiations?

All the while in Calcutta there were riots caused by resistance to the new citizenship laws which some believe are creating a second class citizen status based solely on religion. No doubt Trump would approve of that. It didn't feature in the video though.
