I thought he did OK but he is no CB . Pre season is all about experimenting and seeing what works with the group of players we have .
As mentioned we have first team players sitting out and would add maybe rookies playing in other positions which makes 4-3-3 a questionable formation for this squad
We either have to buy better players for two or three positions or if FDB insists on 3 at the back a 3-1-4-2 to get our better players on the pitch .Luca would be the 1 in front of the 3

And we still need a striker

Yeah five in to two doesn't go. I'd love to see Loftus-Cheek start but at Cabayes expense?

Logical to see why they've tried to move Luka somewhere else, was a suggestion to play Cabaye as on if the top three along side Wilf and Benteke.. or LoftusCheek.

For me first name on the team sheet is Wilf.

Second is Luka

Only really one spot left for either Cabaye, Punch, Jimmy, LoftusCheek.

Assuming we drop the idea of Andros playing wing back. That means he's either the third man up top or he's on the bench too.

I've thought something a bit more like this:

Townsend getting up and down on that right side but Cabaye or Loftus Cheek covering on that side too, not a wing back but just the right-sided midfielder.

Why not find places for all of the trio Cabaye, Luka and Creek? All three far better than Puncheon anyway and the defensive qualities of Townsend/Ward are zero. Needs to do smt there.....

A better formation would be 3-5-2/3-4-1-1
