I suspect everyone is missing completely his point. Which is that on the scale of things losing a few games of football are not life and death matters, despite Mr Shankley's observations and compared to how things once were we are actually doing OK. He is, of course, right and although we are in a big mess it is still early in the season with sufficient time to turn things around. FDB's methods clearly weren't going to suit us, so the change made early makes sense. We played terribly yesterday which I put down to a reaction to the turmoil and the players not yet getting any direction. They looked like rabbits in the headlights. We have though had some appalling luck along the way and the players have not suddenly become dummies. They can do it. We know they can do it, and so do they. Now we must do our part and not get on their backs. Or Steve's, without whom we would not be able to have a situation to complain about.

Parish has given the club and fans 5 years in the PL. No chairman or owner has ever done that. I agree there are too many lightweight 'supporters' who scream and shout about anything that doesn't go their own way for short term gratification.

Well done SP, keep it going and ignore the temporary 'fans' the club has unfortunately picked up during the last 5 years.

So the man who told us not to have a small club mentality and that we should change our style to play attractive football and qualify for Europe is now saying that we should all be grateful.

Seriously?

What we want is our Premier league club to act like it.
Amateur dealings in the Summer transfer window, season after season, resulting in a squad that is seriously lacking cover in vital areas.

Sorry Steve. You are the one who needs a reality check. I have watched Palace since the 70's and that includes a lot of crap. I can say what I like. If you want to play in the Premier league then you have to spend accordingly. The squad has been playing catch-up every season because we have never spent enough money on it.
We will be a lot poorer when we go down and it will take another five years to rebuild the squad after we have to sell off our best players and that is if we are lucky enough to come back up straight away. We might spend another decade in the Championship instead. That will please the investors and guarantee that we have to put up with the ramshackle state of Selhurst Park for another lifetime.
How will your chairman record look then?

I agree with Steve Parish he has improved facilities for the fans and the club in general. However he must take responsibility for the team that has been below premier league standard for the last 18 months. Not signing another forward is unforgivable especially after letting Fraser Campbell go. WE have been bullied in mid field since Jedinak was sold.

I know I sound like a broken record but someone who has had £600mill pass through the coffers - £700mill by this time next year - in just over 5 years and ends up with a business that is just slightly in the black really has not run that business well especially with the potential for income tumbling with relegation.

A poor show it will be indeed from a bang average Chairman.

Steve saved the club 7 years ago, then we stayed in the championship, then we got promoted to the premiership and stayed for 5 years whilst nearly winning the FA cup beating all the big guns throughout that period of time, building the best squad i've ever seen us have. Now We lose 5 games without scoring and now Steves not the Messiah he's a very naughty boy. Very logical mind Dan...

Personally, I don't think this isn't the best squad we've had. It isn't a patch on the 1990-91 squad that finished 3rd. Not even close!
