I think Steve Parish should look on the bright side.

At the moment he is well on his way to fulfilling his ambition of taking Palace to: "The next level."

Well that's what Charlton Fans wanted "The next level ".
Just look at the massive clubs below us .
IMO, to be trying to compete in this league is marvellous for a club our size.

Palace 13th 2017/18.

Whether you are SP fan or not I feel it would be totally disingenuous not to accept that he and CPFC2010 have made a great contribution to CPFC - saving us from liquation with their own money and then funding the club until we got promoted.

Similarly SP has served as Chief exec/Chairman for a number of years without taking a salary - the only club to not pay for this position in the top flight (this appears to have changed since the Americans have come in).

In terms of the imbalance in the squad etc surely this is more down to the managers than the chairman.

Yes the striker position has been an issue since Wickham got injured (NOV 2016) but BSF obviously prioritised other areas (buying 2 left backs!!) and then I suspect FDB wanted to assess the squad before he made any transfer decisions.

Neither approach has been ideal and neither manager has really addressed the imbalance.

To be honest the squad has been imbalanced since we got promoted really and no manager has really focused on this enough as the need for short term results has always been given priority.

Is this SPs fault?

Also surely letting players go and pre season must have been agreed with BFS before he left as these discussions are often taken 3 or so months before the decision is announced - pre seasons are often organised 6 months in advance.

I remember Jordan singing his own praises and saying it was the chairman who bought a player not the manager - Ade Akinbuyi was the player. How did that turn out?

Everyone accepts that SP & his merry men saved the club and funded it with their own money but what tends to get overlooked is that whilst "CPFC2010 have made a great contribution to CPFC" the reverse is also true that in turn CPFC have also contributed greatly to the piggy banks of the four founding shareholders as their investments (that incidentally were fully secured) are now worth 10 or 20 times what they paid for them.

This pretty much sums it up for me. Whilst we should all kiss SP's feet for the rest of eternity, anyone that thinks he rescued us 'just because he's a fan' is deluded. He's a business man and a successful one at that, he saw an opportunity with Palace and a good one at that.

A London club, reasonably big fan base, I wouldn't go as far to say sleeping giant because that just wouldn't be true, a comatose one might be more accurate (I don't think we're a sleeping giant at all) but big potential all the same. He saw that with a sensible, well planned approach he and the other investors could get one hell of a return on their investment. They paid (in relative terms) peanuts for the club and fooked a lot of people over in the process (not their fault) and as stated above have made a massive return on their investment, yes it was a risk, yes they put their money where their mouths are but all this saint steve stuff is a bit nauseating.

He's dropped a massive clanger with this striker business and deserves to be called out on it. I like the guy and don't won't him to go but I think he's struggling to keep control of everything and needs help. I don't think employing one of the palace old boys as DOF is enough.

Just my opinion like.

For all those on here who continue to defend Steve Parish no matter what and worship him like a god, who was to blame for releasing Frazier Campbell before we appointed a new manager? who was to blame for the fact that we did not sort out a replacement striker (or 2 strikers - given the injury to Wickham as well!!) during the whole of the summer transfer window. Who was at fault for the collapse of the Niasse transfer right at the last minute?? Even if the agent was playing hardball with his fee (surely the long term benefits of staying in this megabucks league would have been worth it)

Now Benteke could be out for two months!!! We really are well and truly in the brown stuff. The chickens have come home to roost

FdB appointed 26/06, FC released from contract 30/06, he even states in the HOL Radio interview that he was released by FdB and SP wishes he'd overruled him. I don't disagree that we're in the sh*t, and the Niasse issue may well have been about agent payments, but don't bend the facts to suit your narrative.

The list of released players was announced in the media on 9th June and I would guess (and hope) that the players on that list had already been informed

It is indicative of our current plight that there are those who are wishing Fraizer Campbell had been retained !
Incidently, he scored for Hull on Saturday.

You are right although I think Campbell was unregistered when Frank came in and therefore there might be how Frank may have been overruled.

Or Parish wishes he overruled Sam.

Either way, Campbell isn't good enough and I agree with either or both managers on that one. Funny how Parish doesn't along with some of those tweets the week before Benteke getting injured, just as some of us said he would at some point.

I don't think that it's so much wanting him to be retained that annoys people but that at the end of last season Campbell, Remy and Appiah were all released yet not one of them was replaced and we were supposed to go five months with only the one recognized striker which is sheer lunacy if not suicidal

It's all down to the managers we try to solve these on the last day apparently. Or we just don't bother.
