Favourite thread in ages... think I might go out for a run or to the gym myself.

I've been going to the gym for about 14 years now, at least 3 times a week, but currently going 6 times a week as a mixture between weights, cardio and conditioning. Need to for my part time job as a professional wrestler really… I have 3 gym memberships, 1 at my weightlifting / powerlifting club, another in a chain of leisure centres (which I get athlete support for) and one very handy and well equipped one in the basement of my office.

As much as I hate going, it's become so ingrained in my lifestyle and schedule that I feel lost if I'm not in the gym of an evening. I'd definitely say that going to the gym helps keep me sane, focused and organised and allows me to eat the amounts of food I do eat. I tend to not be a very sociable person, so I train alone. But I have made some great friendships from training with others.

I'd definitely say it's helped to keep my anxious mind busy at times too as well as help my confidence.

Joined a gym a couple of years ago after a pretty serious illness, was part of my recovery. I had the same view as some that it would be a bunch of self absorbed meatheads, and the state i was in when i joined (i could barely walk and could just about life 1kg in each arm) I was dreading it.

Have to say though I was completely wrong, all ages sexes and abilities, everyone has different reasons for going whether it be too look good, keep healthy or recovery and some of the 'meatheads' were actually very helpful in terms of helping me with posture/form and certain exercises to help certain aspects of my recovery. Best thing I did and in terms of stress/anxiety it helps massively.

Unfortunately i moved away recently and havent been in about 3 months and can feel the tension/stress returning! Time to get back on it I think!

I run at lunchtime. Was a member of the gym, but found I just sat on a bike watching Bargain Hunt for half an hour. Running gets me out of the office, some fresh air (as fresh as you can get in Canary Wharf), and gives me a chance to blow off steam.

I'm a hopeless runner though - I only normally do 5km or under (had a few injuries lately) but it gets you sweaty and out of breath

Yeah he's a top bloke as a wrestler and someone to share a "locker room" with. Very funny guy. Not had the chance to wrestle him, yet...

That's great stuff JE...I have to say I'm pleasantly surprised at how many people have contributed to the thread...as soon as I posted it I had a facepalm moment thinking what a weak subject matter; but i was clearly way off.

That's brilliant mate...is it what you hoped it would be, when you started?

Any up coming events we should keep an eye out for?

Without meaning to derail the thread; When I started out, I just wanted to try it out and have one match, as bucket list stuff really.

Being able to wrestle for the WWE, spend time with my idols in a business capacity is pretty mindblowing really, but now it's something I really want to do full time.

Other than a show in Sydenham on Dec 1st, and potentially the odd show in December, I don't have much to shout about really. Hope to say I'll have more WWE stuff soon, but they are very last minute in their plans!

I wish you luck with it and will certainly keep an eye out for you!
