Should we sell Benteke in Jan...?

Fully agree with Spartakev2, Sako should start in place of Benteke for the City game. Sako gets into the box, makes himself available, does everything Benteke doesn’t. Sako’s goals per minutes on pitch compared to Benteke’s speaks for itself.

It does look FWIW as if there is activity and commitment to getting something done. Roy's words after the match, various names linked, although some of them aren't all that inspiring, a clear sense of priorities. Hopefully we're not going to be caught sitting on our arses like last time. But of course we can all get that by looking at NewsNow, listening to TalkS***e or even reading Transfer Talk.

Well after your first remark you either have to put up or shut up, but you have chosen to throw your toys about instead. I didn't recommend selling Benteke and I don't think I would so recommend (not since the Leicester game, anyway). Bringing in another, maybe slightly different kind of striker would provide both competition for his place and the option of playing a proper striker up front with him instead of shoehorning Wilf into that position (which is a terrible idea given the damage he does from wide positions). As well as the advantage of selecting the right horse for the right course. Sell Beneteke and his replacement would probably cost more and need to be bedded in. Unless, of course, the player wants to leave, of which his present performance may be a symptom; but I would expect my cat to tell me if that were the case.

It is tempting to say "Tekers is off the boil, we need someone else in *now*, we had better do a deal on 1 January" but I would be fearful this resulted in a poor decision made in haste of which we could spend the rest of the season repenting. I don't think that Hodgson, Parish, Freedman et al are stupid enough to act in such haste though and will give appropriate weight to the idea of making sure that the players coming in are the right ones, and they won't repeat the mistake of trying to do everything in haste on 31 January. So if you were trying to raise our expectations that there would be an announcement very soon, and given that you have provided your usual complete lack of specifics and evidence, I think you're talking bollocks. HTH.

Without etc etc zzzzzz......but really Willo, don't come on here making out to be privy to something if you are not prepared to divulge what it is and in what context you have the information. You end up looking foolish. Having messed up in the summer, it's pretty bleedin' obvious that we need competition in certain areas, striker being the main one. As for selling Benteke, based upon last night's showing it's hard to make a case for keeping him. However, prior matches he had shown improvement. I say ' keep ' but provide him with some genuine competition for his place.
