I have no idea who you are referring to. The major players behind the EEC, to my mind, were Monnet and Adenauer, neither of whom were ever Nazis. Monnet was French, and resisted the Germans. Adenauer was removed as mayor of Cologne by the Nazis, frozen out by them and even briefly imprisoned by them.

You didn't mention Walter Hallstein, Founding President Of The Brussels EU Commission (Nazi).

Lots of the technocrats behind the creation of the EEC were Nazis, plenty of research available.

Naive.

The majority of the population will never be anything other than sheep. The elites have realized that using Leftist ideals is a great way to influence the youth, AKA the consumer. The useful idiots don't know they are being played by people who promote one thing and do the opposite.
Capitalism does serve us all, but not equally. Those at the top of the food chain are happy to destroy everything for profit and then claim to be our saviours.
The world will soon be in turmoil because of that kind of person.

Globalism is stripping away everything that we hold dear and replacing it with homogenous misery for all but a tiny percentage.

Here we go again. More conspiracy theory, this time about the "elites", who are never seen or heard from, and don't possess an organisation, but somehow run the world for their own benefit.

Of course the rich and powerful exist and will look after themselves. That's nothing new. They aren't organised though and are as subject to regulation as everybody else. That they can employ the best lawyers to find the ways to avoid them is why we need international regulation to co-ordinate the responses.

That many of the people aren't very interested in politics is unfortunate but not a disaster. The idea that "leftist ideals" is what motivates them made me laugh. Of course, it isn't. They aren't motivated by sharing and caring. They are motivated by things. Things that are supplied by those capitalists. Capitalists who we need to, and can, control. So long as enough of us are interested in politics we can make sure our politicians do what we want them to do. The idea that these "elites" control us is just a conspiracy theory. Unless we choose to believe it. I don't.

Globalism is stripping us of nothing. It is allowing global trade at a scale never seen before. Everyone can benefit. The rich consume just like everyone else. Nothing disappears. It just goes around.

For those reading the denialist's post above here is an image of the globalistic bodies that have considerable power over what happens in yours and my life.

Apparently it's all a conspiracy theory as of course they don't talk...I mean all those conferences and Davos are just jollies....and your politicians don't have to heed them. (I mean Johnson changed his covid policies at the start just talking to scientists who aren't funded or influenced by anybody)...and of course the rich's interests are really just your interests too.....I mean the wealth transfer of the last two years was a pure coincidence.

It's worth a chuckle if nothing else.

You mentioned "major players". They were Monnet and Adenauer. I had never even heard of Hallstein, but found this in his Wiki:-

"Hallstein was a member of several nominally Nazi professional organizations, but he was not a member of the Nazi Party or of the SA. He is reputed to have rejected Nazi ideology[19][9] and to have kept his distance from the Nazis. There was opposition from Nazi officials to his proposed appointment, in 1941, as professor of law at the University of Frankfurt, but the academics pushed through his candidacy, and he soon advanced to become dean of the faculty.

As you know very well it was nearly impossible to avoid being involved in some way with the Nazis during their time in power. You risked your livelihood and quite possibly your life if you criticised them. One of the nicest, kindest and most democratic men I ever knew was a German who was a member of the Nazi youth.

We're going off topic here which is my fault.

The EEC was the creation was the of various Nazi technocrats / industrialists and economists it origins were during WW2 when the smarter Germans realised they were going to lose the war.

Adenauer may have been an anti Nazi but as Chancellor he was very kind to them post war.

As much as I would love to lay the blame for the EEC/EU at the foot of the Nazi's, my understanding is that the actual origins are set in motion during WW1 when the British and French began to co-operate in protecting their shipping from U-Boats and the idea of greater collaboration began to take shape. Then, by way of preventing the Germans ever launching another world war, post '45, the first agreements were put in place around steel production by way of limiting Germanys ability to build tanks and s***.

Then the rest is history.

Despite my anti-EU instincts, I think that there is a strong case to be made for a vision of a federalised European super-state but suspect my vision for it somewhat differs from the usual FBPE mob.

Davos is NOT a meeting of these mythical elites. That is another typical right-wing conspiracy theory. Someone is paying far too much attention to dodgy websites, forums and YouTube junkies.

Davos is a vital tool of the World Economic Forum, a place where leaders from business, government, international organisations, civil society and academia come together to address critical issues at the start of each year. It produces ideas. It doesn't take decisions. It works on eight thematic priorities: global cooperation; economic rebalancing; society and equity; climate and nature; innovation and governance; industrial transformation, risks and resilience; and global health. The 2021 meeting was online and had around 2000 participants. The large number of debates can all be followed by anyone who wishes to.

That Johnson changed his policies having listened to concerned people is not something to be criticised. It is to be welcomed.

The idea that any responsible scientist, which the overwhelming majority are, would deliberately offer advice they don't believe in because of commercial pressures, is a disgusting suggestion. I never encountered that during my long career, and I knew many scientists. There will always be the odd rogue, but they rarely gain any traction. Peer review sorts them out.

That image has appeared here before and has about as much credibility as the idea that Millwall will win the cup this year.

I don't chuckle at this level of cynicism. I find it appalling that it exists at all. Encouraging distrust in those seeking to find ways to make our world safer, happier and healthier by labelling them as "elites" is not something I would be proud of.

I've said it a million times, the leave vote was not about finances it was about independence and immigration....the latter we have been betrayed upon.

Considering you have just supported two years of spending that is bigger than our WW2 spending it kind of makes me smile but hey.

You are free to talk about what you think the great wrongs are from leaving but as you don't share the concerns of leave voters it's kind of pointless....but hey.

I mean, if you want to talk to remainers cool....but these are discussions of six years ago.

As I am not talking about the financial benefits of the EU, this is another pointless post. One that throws mud at nothing.

All I am saying is that one effect of us no longer being a member is to have a smaller, weaker voice when matters of world trade are being discussed on a global scale.

That's not controversial, or even debatable. It's just a fact.

Here is another fact. No-one speaks for Leave voters. Just as I don't speak for Remain voters. All of us only speak for ourselves. Many Leave voters that I speak to, have now had second thoughts. Sometimes difficult to tease it out of them, as people don't like admitting they were wrong. Enough though that I would wager a lot of money that if the vote was rerun today it would go the other way. We won't though have another vote. Not now, and I hope not ever. I hope we get, in time, a sensible government, under pressure of a threatened break-up of the Union, who agree to a new type of Associated membership. One that everyone, EU and Leavers, can live with.

Nothing the least corny about Davos.

The Rape Gang scandal is proof positive that this UK State is not fit for purpose and will continue to fail the public.

Yeah that was my fault.

All the while we "trust" the authorities this will continue. Too many people have too much to hide mainly their own incompetence and protecting that gold plated pension.

Even if those individuals have done nothing wrong personally it is a culture of don't go looking for trouble or "protect the party". This cuts across all the political parties.

I always said we would never have a Watergate Scandal here not because they wouldn't do it but that the cover up would never come out so we would never know.
