Morrissey is a bellweather for just how quickly society has shifted and how much the media is responsible for a normie's views and how activist organisations are....or activist scared I should probably say. As fantastic as The Smith's were (and I saw over half of the shows on their farewell tour and have an almost complete music collection - yes I am that anal.) However good the odd solo stuff has been, he seems to view it as his business to make statements designed when one looks at how/when/where they are said to offend. Likewise some songs going right back to The Smith's days. These days though they don"t sound like the views of a bright young rebel or indeed an elder statesman, they just sound like soundbites from a fading star desperate to get a few column inches. Lots of uninformed ramblings about the state of a nation he rarely sets foot in and a series comments about others whom he doesn't know or probably care about. The mantra seems to be one of all publicity is good publicity...

Throwing gladioli and saying meat is murder is courting controversy from the start, so when it comes to offence it's just pick a group and a time and how you personally feel about it. I have some sympathy with the cynicism against tax exiles but no one has to be a role model to have an opinion. You may not like his opinions on how modern society is and has changed in the UK but that's not really the point with what's happened here. You'd think that an accountant would care more about truth as fundamentally that's what maths is about.....Though as we know about some accountants, some prefer cooking to accuracy.
