I can remember standing in a cylinder and being spun until you stuck to the side. This was always a popular ride for the male youth to watch..... as the drum spun faster and faster and the punters stuck to the sides with the centrifugal force, they would drop the floor away to leave them suspended halfway up the sides. However,as the ride slowed, they always raised the floor much more slowly which meant that any women on the ride would slide slowly down the sides to the floor, leaving their skirts/dresses riding up around their armpits. A glimpse of knickers was considered very daring in those pre-internet p*** days.

I remember taking my wife to the bank holiday funfair in Blackheath. It was quite cold so she wore her new coat made from hamster fur............I couldn't get her off the big wheel all day! Ollie's Dad,Ash.

The old fashioned ones where Rotors where the floor dropped but the Op is referring to Hearts and Diamonds due to the head cushions shapes.

Was in the Mary Rose at Benbom Brothers in amargate when it go stuck upside down for a while. Very bad day. There was an individual capsule ride at Thorpe Park I think which started off going round in a flat circle horizontally and then ended up going round vertically with the forces pinning you into the seat, making you feel very sick and a nasty brain feeling. I hated that thing and I can brave high speeds. Funnily enough the tea cups look fairly inoffensive but because they keep spinning in small circles whilst doing the bigger circular motions, if you're not feeling right right and it's your first ride after eating it can play havoc with your guts. The capsule one was one of the first or second rides of that day I seem to remember. The ice creams at Thorpe Park were enormous years ago. Probably not now or they'd cost nearly £20.
