And how do they know ?......19:55 Sky Sports News understands Crystal Palace are considering a move for Burnley striker Ashley Barnes The Eagles have been trying to sign first-choice target Khouma Babacar but are yet to reach an agreement with Fiorentina. Roy Hodgson has between £10m and £12m to spend on a striker this month and they are down to their final two options of the window. Burnley would be reluctant to sell Barnes, who has 18 months left on his contract. Nevertheless, we are told Palace could approach Burnley in the next 48 hours.

Could just be a move to get our other targets teams to play ball. We need someone, there are a lot better options than Barnes, but buying no one would be a far worse option. It’s a no from me, unless we don’t get anyone else, in which case, welcome to Palace.

Unless Palace really are desperate we shouldn’t go for either.

I mean 9x out of 10 that is the story of my Palace supporting life and whenever this type of rumour surfaces you can't help but feel it has legs. I'd genuinely rather we just went back to Wilf and Andros up top causing havoc for the defence than just sign a bruiseresque "does the dirty work" lump for the sake of signing a striker.
