I could probably find some local athletes of a good standard who are not footballers who could run and run and chase balls down !

We need a striker who can come in, hit the ground running and score goals. We've already got a striker who doesnt score much. Lets have a bit of quality not all get excited by a player who has 'effort' and runs around. He's not good enough in my opinion for the predicament we are in.

True. Although buying Barnes, who we know has premier league experience and his stats suggest he won’t get the goals we need. Also that’s what Dougies job is isn’t it? We also have the best recruitment environment we’ve ever had apparently. Luckily Roy has appeared to dismiss the Barnes talk anyway. Being totally honest I have not heard of any Barnes interest.That said I don't up-to-date transfer target alerts from the club on my phone !

I'd quite like us to sign someone doing well in the championship or abroad rather than as you say, someone that has proved they can't score in the Premier League, problem is I think our budget is even more shoe string than any of us hope.
