Regarding the title of this thread - we have a keeper who was terrific and was only defeated by a pen; striker who scored what really should have been the winning goal in a tough away game.

If you are going to post sensible comments and not tell us how awful the window has been and how terrible the clubs recruitment policy is (before the window has even closed) then you should probably not post at all. 😃

Very true, but we also had a striker who did very little else in the game and a keeper who almost threw the game away with a terrible kick and an even worse throw. They are both ok but we can do better IMO.

What's your explanation then Sparty - why didn't any of the strikers that we approached or enquired about sign? We're we too good for them?

Wow!!

Dougie and Parish according to Roy have been on their phones for days to make things happen.

To date, one loan signing and a Polish defender, both untried and tested at this level, with the window shutting tonight, is hardly a cause for celebration when our minimum requirements were known months ago.

Hope things change over the hours remaining today, with productive use of their overworked phones.

Do you honestly know who have we approached?

Who was that then? I saw our keeper make a good save from Hernandez, claim one good cross and then faff about on the others, plus a completely ludicrous attempt at a throw which could have cost us....Terrific is not the correct word , average is the word!

Nope but if even 50% of the heavily rumoured strikers that we've been in for, and you have to admit that some of the reporting strongly suggest we have put in bids for several players, have all said no then we're doing something wrong. Either our target list is unrealistic or our approach/offer strategy is way off. I'd love to hear a plausible counter theory

'The Sun' say we have agreed an 8m fee for a striker.... this was never the case. My counter theory would be don't believe everything you read. it'll send you mad!!

Fact: The keeper only let in one goal, a penalty, in a tough away game against an in-form team. Maybe "terrific' overstates the case but what more do you expect from a goalkeeper - to run the length of the field and score the winning goal?
