Everywhere has a culture, whether it's rugby league, bingo, warm beer, chips and gravy or al fresco dining.

You don't like England and you remind us regularly.

I left the South in 1984 and moved to Newcastle. When I was first asked if I wanted gravy on my chips I replied "don't be silly, no-one has gravy on chips"

Has that horrible habit reached the South now

You can spin his no identity or culture of our own on its head by saying plenty of European countries reject foreign food and restaurants whereas we've got the pick of everything.

Plenty of international cuisine in other European cities and they certainly don't 'reject' anything. You need to travel more and skip the tourist trails. Of course as I mentioned in my last comment, lots of copying in the UK, nothing very original. The lack of good local cuisine is a good example as it means there isn't much option to importing someone else's.

You get a big range of cuisine in every British town, not just cities. You don't get the same across Europe. Or maybe you're a better judge than the the food experts and critics here, many of them foreign.

So you don't think that the cuisine of any country was originally determined by the availability of food stuffs and the ability to preserve it?
Now we have refrigeration and preservatives, food can go anywhere.
I find a lot of so called fancy food like French and Italian absolute cack and if it wasn't for the British, much of the world still be eating each other.
