Whats a Championship Player
Sorloth has been played out of position, but has put in more effort than Benteke.
Most players need time to adapt.

A Championship player is one that will do well in the Championship. It applies to many of the players who are playing in the Premiership. Most of the sides in the Premiership have plenty of Championship quality players and a few Premiership quality players.

Sorloth is a Championship quality player. It doesn't mean that he won't be successful for us in the Premiership. But you wouldn't place him in the same bracket as Aguero, Sanchez, Salah, Lukaku et al.

I would put him in the same bracket as Ashley Barnes, Sam Vokes and a fair few ex-Palace strikers who are doing OK in the Premiership. Still plenty capable of doing a job for us.

It is no criticism, in my view, to say someone is Championship Quality. Teams like Palace are rarely likely to have more than 4 or 5 Premiership Quality players and we need to make up the numbers with decent Championship players.

I'd pick someone like Townsend or Tomkins.

But more to the point, how anyone can instantly really categorize a player who's been thrown into a league 2 or 3 tiers above their previous playing level -- and was basically in a kind of pre season -- is beyond me.

Nobody knows what Sorloth can achieve.

Exactly, and when you say "championship player" that clearly implies you think they are not good enough for the PL. We seem to be getting rather lose with what "championship player" actually means all of a sudden on this thread.

I mean I could just as easily say I think Sorloth is a "league 2" player, but that doesn't mean he won't do well in the prem?

To be clear, it is not me who has branded Sorloth a Championship Player. If you read the whole thread then you will see that certain people on here have been branding Sorloth a "Championship Player" like it is some kind of criticism of him. I was reacting to that.
