My opinions for what it's worth re him possibly going:

Positives:
1. We get his obscene salary off the wage bill - seriously, nobody deserves to be paid that much.

Negatives:
1. Even though he isn't as good as some think (eg should have far more assists), he's still the best player we have by far (now AWB's gone) and there's no way we'll replace him, especially given our lack of transfers and awful policy in that area.
2. We won't get his market value and end up with Arsenal rejects like Jenkinson and Chambers in exchange. Any money we do get will go down the same black hole where the AWB money has gone, or be used to help pay Benteke's ridiculous wage.
3. Who really wants to see Ayew or Schlupp in his role?
4. If he goes we go down, especially with RH in charge.

Also, I thought his reason for going was to play in the Champions league - Arsenal aren't in that. Has anybody told Zaha that?

Suddenly there's noise about Everton supposedly joining the race. I hope that's a joke. If Wilf went there I would lose all respect for him. I get him wanting to join a big club, but not a mild incline upwards. I imagine this is just silly talk though, perhaps even spilled by Zaha's agent to try and stir Arsenal into activity.

Couldn't that be said about just about every English football club?!

Tottenham aren’t, or Chelsea.
Obviously Man City and Liverpool aren’t.
That’s the top 4, that play in the champions league, which is why Wilf said he wanted to leave.

Or, alternatively, we buy different types of players as we no longer need to build a team around him if he's not here?

Much (probably) depends on the club's future managerial strategy - he's not exactly a Roy type of player after all.

And, yes, I get that I might be blindingly stupid in believing we might have a managerial strategy going forwards.....

And how do we do that in 20 days

Selling AWB probably convinced Wilf that it is time to go.

He just has a little problem of a 4 year contract, which he signed. This means the club is holding all the aces, not him. If he had 2 years left, he would be in a stronger position. Currently nobody has offered our valuation or anywhere near it.

Any truth, which I doubt in the Everton rumour will probably include Bolasie who they will value at around £20m or more.

I can see Parish leaping at that

Everton "joining the race" is excellent news. They are much more likely to bid at a realistic level than Arsenal seem willing to do.

It will prevent Wilf from saying his "market value" is whatever piece of s*** that Arsenal bid.

If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities.

No. We don't just replace him.

How does our club attract someone of that quality?

We won't.

No Wilf, no Premier League.

No amount of money will attract anyone like him as he is now, we have to gamble because of what and where we are and we can only reduce that gamble with more money. Nobody can say this or that about our chances of survival if Zaha is sold ..it can obviously go both ways.

Brilliant.

If I was a betting man, I'd have a big bet with you that we will go down without him.
Did you forget last season already?

Some fans seem to have the capacity to forget how useless we are without key players.

The thing is it’s not just a Sky or agent driven story.
Hodgson has confirmed that a bid has been made by Arsenal and that Palace have a valuation which will have to be met for Zaha to be sold.
I’m as fed up as the next person with Sky’s coverage with its conjecture and agent led agenda.
However, it’s clear that Zaha could be on his way whether we like it or not.
If he was unavailable it would be very simple for Zaha/the club to issue a statement that he is happy at the club and wants to fulfil the long term contract that he signed last year.

That was without having funds or trying to evolve without Zaha.

He has to be sold at some point. The question is for how much and how we deal with it after he goes.

He can’t play until he dies and at some point he’ll be worth next to nothing. The club needs to know what they’ll do with the money as much as how much they’re demanding or holding out for.
