Exactly this. You can't compare based purely on stats as the opposition are different, shots are of differing quality. Also, when WH was in goal we had Ayew up front with Sorloth as backup. Now we have Bats and Benteke so of course we are winning more. Nor can people keep saying that the defence trust VG more - there is absiolutely no proof of that. Indeed, PVA's loss of form has coincided with VG being in goal so is that his fault? I've seen Luka have a go at VG several times during games for his poor distribution.

Earlier in the season when we lost to Wolves, WH was vilified on here for letting in a drive at his near post - VG has let 3 in like that in recent games when he has gone down on his knees - a definite technical flaw in his game. I'm not saying that WH is much better - he has let in a few this season that should have been stopped (Burnely and Watford spring to mind) but VG is no better - in my opinion.

This isn't PVA's first loss of form, and I suspect the most recent slump is down to not having Sakho alongside him.

I've seen Luka having a go at him, but there have been plenty of times when VG has got absolutely no options. If we're going to play it out from the back we have to have much more movement from the midfield to make that happen.

I think there are areas where WH was better, but overall VG is a much better keeper and we look more solid with him there. He's not perfect, but then as has been pointed out if he was perfect we wouldn't have got him on a free transfer.

Employee of the month is a good example of how someone can be both a winner and a loser at the same time.

A few decent saves today. Made a big difference since he’s come in IMO.

He did make some decent saves. We won't mention the one awful bit of distribution in the 2nd half that with many other sides could have gifted a goal.

One mis placed pass but no immediate danger to the goal. Have a day off.

Whining about a minor point of goalkeeping from a player who’s been a mainstay of our side since mid December when we only had twelve points.

An interesting pov is always the non biased or objectional view, if there is such a thing. Other fans comments I have seen are not very complimentary of Vincente. He does look erratic, partucularly on set pieces. His kicking/distribution is also pretty poor, inferior to Hennenseys anyway which is a surprise with him coming from Spain. Reactions and shot stopping clearly are excellent. As many have already said, if he did not have his faults he would not be at palace on a free.

... except when they're at his near post where he goes down on his knees far too quickly. Sorry, but I still think we should go for a better keeper - Etheridge has looked quality all season and Cardiff would have been down weeks ago without him.

Totally agree, he is of PL quality, just not top 6 PL quality. He has certainly saved far more goals with top class saves this season than he has given away with howlers. He edges it over Hennessey for me, but they are both capable keepers. Id be interested to know how the young lad is getting on as well and whether we are going to offer him a full contract.

I see two main qualities that Guaita is superior over Hennessey. He sets his walls with a greater degree of confidence and doesn't unsight himself. Hennessey has a tendency to put too many in his walls and is poorly positioned. He put too few against Arsenal at home and Xhaka burned him. Second is Guaita's preparation as the shot is taken. He reads them better and his saves are more solid than Hennessey's. Hennessey has a habit of moving at the very last second and his footwork isn't as assuered as Guaita's. For my money, Vicente Guaita is the Palace #1 for the foreseeable future.

How do you then explain all the near-post goals he's let in by going down on his knees too early?
