You’d have thought planning permission for the new stadium would be showing our ambition, apparently for some it doesn’t.

How about Wilf being offered yet another new contract. Does that not show our intent to keep our best players?

Almost certain Roy has said he wants to stay:

But as always there are those that will latch on to anything possible to drum up discontent.

It’s too early for pant wetting. It’ll start nearer the 2 weeks before 1st game mark.

The 'big six' can hog the media coverage, and have a crisis meltdown if they lose 2 games.

Of the remaining 14 teams in the Premier League, Everton, Newcastle and West Ham fans can spend their supporting existence believing they are bigger and better than they are ever likely to be again.

I'd like to think the other 11 of us have real fans, grounded enough to know to enjoy it while it lasts, because at some point it'll be someone else's turn at the top table.

My only worry would be that we might be holding on to see what happens with RLC before making any other concrete decisions. It increasingly looks like a 50/50 between him staying at Chelsea or going out on loan.

Another big factor is we're still not sure whether Sako, Ward and Cabaye are signing new contracts, which obviously plays a big role. The club may still be hammering it out with their respective agents, so again we can't go and sign replacements if we're not certain they're leaving and they can't really comment until it's finalised one way or the other.

Whatever happens, at least this time the window will be shut before the season starts. That just seemed like a logical move to me.

Ward hasn’t just signed a three year extension. Suprised by the length but pleased we’ve retained him. He’s better than many give him credit for.

Ward has signed a 3 year contract,a fit again striker in Wickham and , class new keeper in Guaita.
Retain the nucleus of last season's squad, including Townsend, Cabye and Benteke and we are good to go with Roy at the helm!!

The first post Dyamic Dick mentions on Page 1 our Scouting structure? Which must be more secretive in its operandus modi than the KGB!

Of course amongst several of my long suffering Palace supporting drinking pals Dougie is often mentioned, talked about and discussed.
However Dougie is spotted at matches presumably watching players but more than that, what is the clubs scouting structure and player tranfer policy?
Dougie himself:-
What areas does he think Palace should target for this season?
Buy young talent and nuture it ourselves?
Or established players that are proven?
Buy British or foreign or both?
What is Dougies particular philosophy on transfers as far as Palace are concerned?
What expertise does he bring to the club in this area?
What is his brief from the club?

Probably won't get any answers to most of these but it would be nice to know a little bit more.
Rather than waking up on the morning after the transfer window has closed to find we might have bought someone but tried to get another over the line but failed again!
Only to find they the last 2 players left we could have signed anyway due to leaving it so late!!

Agreed.

Always maintained we can do a lot, lot worse than Ward.

With AWB pulling through it feels like we have the perfect balance in that position now.

We're the Arthur over ere!

Offering Wilf a new contract after he signed a 5-year deal a year ago isn't fooling me. It's PR puff.

£50 mil is ringfenced. It’s going to cost nearer £100 mil. The ‘finances’ might be in place but the whole money in cash probably isn’t.

The whole rebuild of ground and club and eventual resale at a profit relies on prem football.

Parish is hardly likely to say anything other than a brief positive on this. PR is highly important.

Oh, you meant the whole ground? I was only referring to the new main stand. The other 3/4 will be problematic.
