As my father used to say, if panicking actually helped it'd be worth giving it a go, but as it doesn't...

It amazes me that people think Steve Parish is going to magically become a completely different person each and every transfer window.

As Forrest Gump once proclaimed: "Parish is as Parish does......"

He will always wait until late in the window to conduct most (or all) incoming business, because as he clearly stated in an interview on the FYP pod last year he believes that only when you wait to the last minute, generally speaking, can you get value.

This means we will face countless more situations where we leave a signing until the last minute, it goes awry, and we have no time to get a proper replacement in. See Ronnow, Frederick......where his chairmen went public with some incredible claims about total schoolboy stuff from Palace on his transfer....then we have Amadou...Niasse...etc etc.

Its amateur hour at Palace when it comes to transfers. That will never, ever change under the stewardship of Steve Parish. Get over it, live with it, accept it, and let it wash over you like so much salty water.

Expect an exciting August 9th.

I think you've got that totally wrong....it'll be August 10, following the 'lump of dissapointment the day before comes the shock the next day' pattern we're all familiar with

But doesn't this work in reverse? Agents/Clubs know we are desperate and up any fees. Correct me if I am wrong. Also doesn't it help to get players in for pre-season?Correct me if I am wrong

This is my thinking and the only argument against would be if you can find another club, who're as desperate to sell as you are you are to buy, because they need the cash to make a late purchase, from a club that's up for a late deal; seriously, what are the chances? It's really no surprise that such shenanigans are prone to end up hitting the buffers.

Point is doesn’t matter what you, me or Bexley Dave think is right or wrong. Remember what Forrest said. Leopard...spots....etc. Of course we should sign players earlier, any mug can see that. Well, except a few. Remember that SP presided over failed striker and GK signings that could and perhaps should have relegated us. He has previous in this area......

Trump lost. Badly. Hahahahahahaha.

Stop Press: Parrish is not perfect. A hero but not superhuman. I'm a fan of his but I am now genuinely concerned at the lack of sensible transfer activity and the inability to get rid of over paid deadwood (like Mutch) and replace it with sensible buys - we spent big in Jan 17, we bought Benteke with the Bolasie money, but the last two windows have been poor, apart from RLC. I see Fulham, Wolves, Southampton all involved in squad improvements, Newcastle to a lesser degree, West Ham look very ambitious, but a worrying lack of activity from us - we've got a stand too build and the wage bill is hard to control in the prem - we don't want the bubble to burst with marquee signings, we want one or two reasonably ambitious targets and some budget buys who can develop, we got out of jail last season and I was expecting a more strategic approach this season, I've seen no evidence of that yet - we need additions in key areas or it's the bottom five till April again.

Very balanced comments with reality.
Unfortunately, you will now be abused as a panicking ' pant wetter'by many on here who simply have a tendency to ignore the reality of the situation as it is.

I thought I was quite negative but some on hear make me seem like Mr Happy.

Our ambitions are quite simple. To stay in the Premier League. Something that we have managed to do every season since we were promoted. It's the same ambition as most clubs outside of the top 6.

We have no idea what is going on inside the club regarding transfers and the club are not going to tell us (for reasons that are quite obvious, I would have thought). There is nothing any of us can do about it so why worry?

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.

If we restricted the topics on here exclusively to only those we can do something about it would be awfully quiet. This is a discussion forum so let's not try to stifle the opinions of others just because they may not accord with our own.
