This below is 100% spot on ..... we donít have the players to match his ability, Zaha has to come back and get the ball to then face 2/3 of the oppression playing and if he looks to pass.... no one there!

Wilfs main problem is that he plays for us and we are for 70 minutes a game just playing containment. Chelsea were at 72% posession for the first half and nearly all of the 6 or so times we moved it forwards we went right. Wilf never even got a pass.
In the meantime he is watching a free wheeling Chelsea side playing Mount and Pulisic into space , no wonder hes not happy.
The ball is in play for 55 minutes, if we get about 30 % we have it for 16 minutes, Wilfs share would be about a minute, go to Chelsea and he will double his time on the ball.
He is our best player on he ball and yet we dont get it to him. The arguments about Roys style rage elsewhere but he is wasting our talented players.

Im sorry but dont agree, same players out there that played in the end of season, eg. against the cherries and we are not playing with the same flow. dont remember last season being so boring football wise except at home perhaps. we seemed to give it go most of the time, we seem to be getting more negative the longer we stay in the prem.
At this rate Next season we will be looking forward to nil nil draws.

In my opinion every Palace player would love to be playing in that Chelsea side and challenging for trophies.. The issue Wilf has is that he may relish the chance to play for Chelsea but he is not good enough to play for Chelsea, so he is stuck with us and that must be very difficult for him to come to terms with. I still stick to my views that he will never be signed for a so called top 6 club because his overall game has too many flaws coupled with his massive weakness of constantly allowing opposition players, fans and refs to put him off his game.

I agree. If you watch Wilf, the amount of times hes free and shows his frustration at not being played the ball or into the space is mental. I know hes a moany so and so anyway but hes had enough in my opinion and feels hes being held back. We just dont have the creative minded players with the periphery vision to spot the opportunities.

I cannot actually remember the last player we had that ability to spot the pass and split the defence - serious question who was that?

I'd take £60mil for Wilf if we can get rid in jan - give wickham to the champ big ben to china and reinvest with a few bob to spare - striker, winger, rb and attacking mid - ok maybe not a few bob to spare but the wage bill wud have been reduced so it is affordable, but we'll keep a below par wilf and have a poor window again no doubt - ownership issues redevelopment lack of youngsters coming through, choppy waters ahead a bit of Warnock style teeth gritting is helping us to punch above our weight - but a critical time is ahead, we cud do a Charlton/Sunderland/Ipswich - but u never know, Leics and Wolves have dropped to league 1 in recent years and look at them now. The Wilf money and how it is spent is obviously crucial - but it seems finding a buyer is not the formality we all assumed it wud be.

Cabaye and RLC spring to mind for me too in recent times as comfortable on the ball but not the biggest strength of their game. Just about remember Gray and Thomas although like the rest mentioned more of an all rounder type and as you say not a ball player. Maybe a sign of the way the game has gone. A Pirlo type who keeps the ball moving. Even Shelvey has that quality.. I made sure I did not mention both those names in the same sentence!

Thing is, Zaha's finishing isn't exactly brilliant. For all those memorable goals there are a lot of situations he doesn't convert.

Wonder if Roy is expecting and preparing to sell him in January/the summer.

Heís noticeably not taking as many players on this season and we seem to be funnelling the ball forward more evenly rather than hitting Zaha every time.

He is unrecognisable from the player that hit double figures last season and finished the season terrorising Bournemouth with his pace and skill.
He looks half the player now and fans are scratching around for the occasional glimpse to hope this will trigger an uptake in form.
My view of him this season is that heís often picking up the ball on the left around the halfway line with his back to goal and surrounded by 3 defenders.
Hodgson has to find a way of releasing him and getting some mobility back into his game.
Unfortunately because with Hodgson discipline is all , I anticipate Wilf will be asked to continue to perform a covering role and end up like Townsend on the other flank who has lost any zest in his performances.

A guy I know through work, who know's Wilf's family, told me the day before the Everton game that Wilf wanted away, was very upset & his heart was not in playing for palace any more. Sadly the performances this season back up what was said to me. Would he be picked, on form, if his name was not Wilf? It looks like a parting of the ways is inevitable now & the sooner the better for all concerned. It will be a sad day but the club is bigger than one player, how ever good he may be.
