Listening to Roys post match interview it was good to hear him use the word polemic. For a moment I though we had signed a Polish Irishman.

What's your thought on Sørloth? Too soon to judge? Does he need a full game? Fairly obv. he doesn't seem to be a game changer. Let's get Connor on.

Nobodies done anything in front of goal since Tekker's injury. He will return straight into the team. Wickham isn't even ready for the bench yet. Sorloth pretty much sums up a very poor Jan transfer window, 2 disappeared players and him, who has never really played in 9 months. Let's hope next Jan we can strengthen properly in attack and learn by the mistakes made this Jan.

Brighton fans are simply pathetic. 2-0 down and they went home, empty seats everywhere. Last minute goal by Knockart and very nearly an equaliser, and where were they? Gone home to bed.

Pathetic

Basically, when Zaha doesn't have the ball, we have no chance to score.

Ayew has done nothing so far. Invisible today.
Townsend has lost a step, and speed was his only skill. He passes like he's blindfolded.
Kouyate has done nothing. No idea what he brings.
JMac and Luka have done nothing. I'm ready to bench one of them.

Offensively, we're hopeless. Nice that we have 7 points, but it's excruciating to watch.

Would say that's a pretty big overreaction. Ayew looked neat and tidy for 60 minutes and I thought some of his link up play with Wilf and PVA was nice.

Townsend looked much better today and at least offered a threat, should have had an assist with that Sakho chance.

Kouyate gives us a presence we simply didn't have against Southampton, Watford and Liverpool, but he did fade after half time. Travels with the ball better than the rest of our midfield, although he did get caught in possession as well.

Jimmy and Luka were better today, although Luka's set pieces were dreadful.

We're not cutting teams open, but we still controlled the game and we did get in behind a couple of times. We created chances but didn't take them. We had Newcastle penned back, but our delivery from dead ball situations is so bad that we kept letting Newcastle off the hook.

Poor, just looks out of his depth. Slow and for a big lad he just couldn’t (or rather didn’t) compete in the air. Their defenders had him in their pocket, at a time when his fresh legs should’ve given him the upper hand.

Cumbersome and when he’d been out muscled off the ball following a decent cross into the box he lazily and deliberately fouled the Newcastle player, needlessly giving them back possession and relieving the pressure we had been putting them under.

The fact Ayew went straight in the starting 11 when Benteke got injured seems to indicate that Roy & Co. haven’t seen much to impress them in training either.

Have to agree, watching Sørloth actually does help make you realise why Roy has persevered with Benteke for so long because at least he contributes in other ways.

Watching Søloth run 40 yards to overlap Townsend on the outside instead of getting in the box was painful.

Think this is a little harsh.

I actually thought Kouyate looked solid today and bought something to the team. Was disappointed when he went off, but James Mac was playing well too - so one had to make way for a sub to be made.

JMac as above, played well and has been very good this season. Luka was better today. I admit he's not been at his best but he plays an important defensive role nobody else can do at the club.

Townsend was very good today I thought. Really involved. He had one god awful shot that skyed over. But a few good crosses in and chased the ball down.

Ayew - i agree has done nothing. But who else do you play? Because Sorloth is hardly any better. Wickham may as well not be in the squad and Benteke is injured (and also playing terribly).

Kaikai anyone?

Not enough taking responsibility in the final third today. One pass too many, excessive cutting inside and a lack of width at times.

Wilf and Townsend should have swapped sides more often and we need to deliver the ball quicker.

Towards the end one or two appeared afraid to shoot.

This pretty much sums up my thoughts

As for strikers neither Ayew or Sørloth have had a sniff of a goal. Ayew at least as plenty of energy. When he does get a chance hopefully he will show he can stick it away

Yes, I’d forgotten about that one!

Was sat in the Main Stand in Block B so right near where that happened. He just ended up getting in Townsends way and you could see the look on Andros’ face was just like, what on earth are you doing?!

Positional play poor never in the box to create a chance.
Could possibly benefit from playing in a front 2 with Benteke. Lone striker role isn't for him.
