He did Ok when he came on but we got back into the game because Zaha pulled rabbit out of the hat from (an otherwise terrible) Luka's great ball. No other reason.

But that's exactly how most teams score, Zaha isn't a magic wand he is part of our team, when Messi scores the winner in a dull game do their fans say it was because he pulled a rabbit out? ..Leicester City exactly the same with Vardy!

How Max doesn't get a start is beyond me.
The game changed the second he came on.
He links up so well with Wilf down the left and has done since he's been here.
We are a team that struggles for goals, largely in part from lack of creativity, he has bundles of it.
You could feel the buzz in ground whenever he got on the ball tonight.
He may not be great every game, but neither is Wilf, however I really belive he should be in the 11.
I also think Luka needs to be dropped for Mccarthy as he's had a shocker so far this year

This Brighton game was the first time he really made an impression that's why.

Just my opinion that Meyer did quite well when he came on but until Wilfs moment of individual brilliance we were beaten. Brighton then seemed to lose belief and we gained it, partcularly Benteke and Ayew.

Don’t think I’m any less (or more) qualified than anyone else on these boards to pass judgement but thanks for the insight anyway.

Football’s a simple game over thought by too many and I’d prefer to trust what I see. The points made above by others about Meyer’s contribution (or lack of) out of possession and his lack of energy / impact when starting are very fair IMO. He was played in an advance midfield position against Colchester and was rubbish.

I think he’s as close to a magic wand as any Palace team has had in my lifetime.

Zaha allowed Phillips the opportunity to score the winner in that final against Watford, nothing has ever changed since ..Meyer is much much too weak when challenged on the ball, given space and room to move he is very able though, not many teams are going to allow him time, everything you say is correct.

What did you think of him today??

Problem is that he is really just 1 thing:attacking midfielder. He definitely isn't a right winger and can't really be an amazing central.midfielder.

He used to be a really good attacking midfielder in his youth in the Bundesliga, but then they pulled him down to central midfielder position and he lost his touch for goals or creating them.

He's been tried on several position since he arrived at Palace, but team doesn't really play with an attacking midfielder behind the main striker, so he's mostly forced on the wings. Shows touches of grandeur, but considering that he has the highest or second highest salary in the squad+ he could bring he club some money too if sold (I'd say he still has decent value in Germany and could bring in 10 million), would it be bad if he got sold in the winter?

I mean, with adequate replacement. A very similar attack minded player like Ryan Christie for example seems younger and in a much better mental and physical condition and would not cost more than 15 million, coming on a smaller salary than Meyer. What do you think? Would you still have patience with Max?

I'll tell you what I like - always available, looks up and links play quickly. One of my favourite players as he can create something.

Agreed. I watch him on the pitch and always want the ball to him. The other players need to get faith (like in Zaha) and he will do really well.

He did quite well today, but he is not a winger and Ayew looked far more threatening when he moved out there. He still has to prove he's worth his wage if you ask me, but I think a big issue is he just doesn't fit our system. I wouldn't sell him in January though given Camarassa is surely leaving and we only have about 13 fit outfield players now.
