I'm having a look at doing Muey Thai.
Been doing my research.

Came across someone I know who does it,he loves it,it's Thai boxing for those wondering.

Went and met an instructor thee other day and had a chat.

£11 a lesson also which is very good also.

I joined this place in South Croydon for a few months but packed it in as I've got two young kids and no time to train properly. There's was nothing wrong with the school - just the wrong time for me.

Both comparable to gym membership prices but with martial arts you get what you pay for. Cheap instructors aren't usually very good.

wang chung, very popular in the 80's.

Muay Thai ?
F*ck me mate that is a heavy duty combat sport. There’s a really well known gym in St Mary Cray ‘Keddles’ I used to do boxing training down there.
Some of the Muay Thai spars I saw were really naughty. I don’t know your age, or fitness level, but it ain’t for the faint hearted.
Good luck.

I've had a rethink and I think I'll do Wing Chun.

If I was younger I'd do Muey Thai.

I tried Muay Thai for a single extremely intensive lesson back in 1990 when I was a student in London. All my joints and muscles were aching immensely the following morning and for a week onwards.I decided not to take it further from then on. Ive never told my old man who was an amateur boxer back in the day and very tough (still is)

Anyone know any decent martial clubs in and around the Croydon area at an affordable price?

Was thinking of taking up Taekwondo but was wondering if anyone else could help.

I've become bored of the gym and want to learn a martial art and stay fit at the same time.

Thanks guys and gals.

tae kwon do is excellent. One of a handful of 'destructive' martial arts. It disciplines the mind, as well as the body. "way of the hand and foot" it is probably not a lot of good in a knife confrontation, but your body will be in the peak of condition to make an orderly retreat.
Actually, not strictly true. I've seen guys with weapons taken out in a split second by tae kwon do master. But be mindful, you never know who carries something 'extra'.
I used to do 2 (2 hour) stints a week. first hour was basic physical fitness. 2nd hour was sparring.
You will never be fitter

Hope you find somewhere.

For the less adventurous, there is the ancient art of "No Kan Do"

I was the only person in my class to fail
