France does have previous when it comes to taking to the streets and burning.

Yes. It’s in their DNA and they believe because of the French Revolution that the people can influence change. We on the other hand doff our caps to our superiors and the establishment because that’s what’s always happened. We’re a bit pathetic really until it gets to us being invaded and then you see real spirit come out, although I couldn’t rely on some of the pathetic drips to defend us now, which luckily would never happen with nuclear peace.

This is so French this anarchy.

It is short-lived but at least they are able to get off their arses and make an almighty fuss.

We are a bit of a damp squib I am afraid.

Violence can never be the answer long-term , really can't think of anything except strangling the government gravy train.

Cut off the money how do you do it.

That’s right and the French establishment are trying to spin that it’s “far right” extremists when it’s clearly just normal people who are fed up with about 30 years of being unrepresented. The ballot box has proven to be a pointless excercise. No one wants to throw away politics and resort to anarchy but we need real choices and a recognition that political correctness and shutting down debate has left huge numbers of people (probably the majority) disenfranchised without a choice or say in the future.

I always remember standing at the window and laughing, back in the 80's when there was the 'Stop the City' campaign. Parading round the square mile chanting and waving banners served no purpose whatsoever.

If you really want to hit people where it hurts, go to the City and Westminster, lift up the telecoms manhole covers and cut the wires - any wires, all wires. You would bring both capitalism and government to a halt with no phones or internet.

A bloodless riot!

I thought it was about fuel prices?

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.

F*ck me. I knew if I waited long enough you'd post something I actually agree with.

Well done!

We had the poll tax riots but I think that was more to do with people had enough of Thatcher

I can see things going a similar way here, the fallout from Brexit could give the tories ammunition for more cuts and austerity

Well I can tell you all, that it might look good on the telly with Paris in flames, but out here in the countryside it’s just a pain in the arse with them blocking roads, roundabouts, petrol stations and entrances to shopping centres.

All they’re achieving is stopping ordinary people going about their everyday business. Cvnts.

Oh dear. The usual solution favoured by some left-wingers: damage or destroy private property. Thank goodness we have a democracy that keeps these zealots out of power.

I heard in a late ‘90s protest some offices photocopied £20 notes and threw them out of the windows. Funny and cruel at the same time.
