I don't think that the issue of Iraqi prisoners being tortured can give these nutters carte blanche to go around decapitating innocent civilians. If they think that by killing Nick Berg they are going to stop the Americans getting physical with prisoners, i'm afraid to tell them that it will just make things ten times worse. The indiscipline in the US army is shocking at the best of times, and i'm sure that some pretty unpleasant things (which I totally oppopse) will now happen to Iraqi inmates. By unpleasant I mean worse than being pissed on and savaged by dogs. We have opened pandora's box, and there is no way we can just close the lid. Edited by Jay_Palace (13 May 2004 11:27pm)

What the Yanks did was out of line. Thanks to a free press and civilised community we have here, it has been made public and people are outraged. The soldiers have and will be punished. Can't see the same happening out in the Middle East. One rule for one... Most importantly, there's no excuse for creating revenge acts of violence! Bringing up the argument about we shouldn't be out there is not the issue. Trouble is, Islam is 500 years behind Christianity. I couldn't believe it when Amnesty were blaming UK soliders for loads of civilian deaths! Innocent people get caught up in cross fire etc all the time! Unfortunately, it's part of war. Thousands die each day in conflicts round the world but it's never reported on TV!! UK soldiers have actually been praised for making an effort with the local people, taking off their helmets etc.

Oh of course, there are more than a few living in this country who would view him as an 'infidel', not only because of his nationality but because of his Jewishness! How can we comfortably live in the same country as the people who share these views?

The more lilly livered the politicians become in this country, the more desperate the people will become, and if we're not careful, we will end up with an extreme far right party that will deal with all this. The BNP are a group of thugs and have no credibility as far as i'm concerned, but sooner or later we are going to get a radical leader that is going to make serious waves in the political scene in this country. I cannot see the British people putting up with all this for much longer.
