This is an ongoing issue we see every single week - and has become more apparent I think, since we picked our form up in the Christmas period and into the new year. But what is going wrong that we find it so seemingly difficult to put away our chances? From what I've seen, we are relying on penalties from Luka or wondergoals like Townsend's City strike, but when it comes down the our 'actual' chances to put the ball in the net, we just can't do it. Consistently (bar a few games) in the last 2 months, we have been very very good on the attacking front. Making chances and having somewhere between 15-25 attempts on goal a game. But it's incredibly frustrating that we consistently miss. It was mentioned again on MOTD last night that this is the same old Palace we see every week. Incapable of putting the ball away. I really don't want this to seem like a negative post because, all in all, we are playing well right now. But what is the issue here? Is it simply our strikers lack of confidence? Or do we think we're not practising finishing enough in training? In addition to our clear cut chances, last season and before, we were lethal at attacking set pieces. So many goals came from headers from corners. But this season, (correct me if I am wrong) we haven't scored any? We are clearly a strong team and we can take a game to anyone as we've seen. I don't think we're going to go down, but it can't just be me that gets so infuriated by our inability to score the 'easy' goals in a game. Yesterday really summed this up for me, having a minimum 5, one on one chances and not scoring any of them. But Zaha managing to put away a scruffy deflected attempt that had no right to really go in - these types of goals are excellent don't get me wrong, but we need to take all chances.

Boils down to training methods, variety, frequency and duration. In any trade the more you practice and the more engaged you are with the training the better you are at your job. The players lack confidence in front of goal because their training isn't up to scratch.

Here's another way to look at it. How many past seasons have we seen us have quite a lot of deficiencies and we hope we can graft enough or be lucky enough to get away with it and stay up? Now we play good decent football, exciting to see us on the attack and the only deficiency is putting it in the back of the net. For so long we couldn't create chances and now we tend to create a lot especially against those teams around us. I believe it will come and will be the final piece clicking into place. Maybe Michy will be that piece and when it does click think how prolific we could be!

Some of our build up play yesterday was excellent, it was exciting to watch. We had so many shots on goal, something pretty consistent all season.

A bit of an insulting post, all the strikers have scored many goals before, otherwise they wouldn't be in the Premier. Your inferring that the training is making them miss, I have never heard such a load of boll_cks.

Of course they're training, my question is whether the training is appropriate and working. As you've identified that we have strikers who are proven goalscorers, who aren't scoring despite the amount of chances created it seems incredible that you haven't drawn the same conclusion as the logic necessarily follows.
