Morning all,

Im a season ticket holder in the Arthur Wait, Block X and have been for the last 16 seasons.
On Sunday, I saw so many Half & Half scarfs, Non English Speaking people (I have no issue with these people in every day society), people filming and taking pictures all game, applauding/cheering City or generally acting neutral..etc.

Dont get me wrong, I have noticed it before at certain games, but never to this extent, I genuinely counted over 60 half and half scarfs before kick off.
The entire row behind me and multiple infront of me were filled with Non-English speakers who had no allegiance to Crystal Palace whatsoever.
When we scored, many of the tourists barely reacted and it somewhat killed the buzz in my block.

When i witness days like Sunday, it makes me realise that I'd hate to be like City, United, Chelsea etc where actual fans are battling to get tickets with tourists.

It genuinely made me want to look into moving to the Holmesdale to move away from areas where these tourists get tickets.

I anticipate I may get some stick from all the PC people, but who really gives a toss.

It also upsets me. On the basis that most Season Ticket holders bought their scarf some time ago, the number of scarf sellers was an indication of tourists visiting SE23. I am pleased to say that I did not buy an unsold scarf for £5.00 after the match. How is it that locals have to be members to get a ticket, but people with no alligence to Palace can get tickets so easily? With a capacity of around 25,500 - 20,000 STs and 3,000 away supporters - there should be opportunities for potential new supporters. COYP

I get your point and I'd be upset if there were non Palace fans in the Holmesdale but do you not visit other grounds when you are abroad? I occasionally go to other British grounds too and watch as a neutral.

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.

Yep, im in Block X too and it was unbelievable how many half and half scarves there were. My favourites were the 5 Aussies in row 1 (im in row 3) who basically bought in a picnic and cracked open beers at kick-off! How did they get these through security?! Then there were the 3 Man City fans who cheered when Sterling opened the scoring and they got booted out thankfully. Apparently there was a Mum and her son (who was in a full City kit) who were sat in Block W who actually got moved to the away end! Did tickets go on general sale?

How do these people get tickets?! I saw half and half scarves everywhere as well, disgraceful really. No wonder the atmosphere is on the decline when there's so many neutrals in the crowd

Ticket touts buy up season tickets at all the London Premier grounds. It’s a very organised operation, I watched with interest,it in action outside Arsenal tube station last season.
The tourist buys the season ticket for the match, then hands over their passport. The tout arranges to meet them after the match to collect his season ticket and return the passport.
If this is widespread, I can’t confirm, but I observed 2 separate transactions as described.
I have also chatted with fans in Dubai airport, who were flying over from Thailand and India to go to Anfield, it’s a 3 days round trip for them. They can’t be the only ones, as the Premier is huge in Asia.

Blimey, have we finally moved & to Forest Hill/ Honor Oak, nice.

Saying that, if ALL the 'visitors' do go there, it'll mean more 'locals' can get tickets.

This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise.

Yea if only we could get relegated. There would be plenty of room in the Arther playing Preston North End on a cold Tuesday night.

Do you get to many games? If so then you must see this too! Do these people discussed in this thread not bother you at all? Personally i find it infuriating seeing people in my stand wearing scarfs with Pep's face on, or Man City shirts.

Of course i dont want to be in the Championship, but i do miss the Championship fan base.

Was selling FYP on junction of Park Rd and Holmesdale. Was truly stunned by the number of clear tourists (half and half scarves or not) in attendance. We had a bit of a laugh as we sold quite a few FYPs to people who thought it was the programme - nice. Fact is as well as the touts (see earlier posts) many of the "big" clubs have deals with travel agents whereby tourists can have a "London Premiership experience" for a large amount more than the £30 away ticket face value. Old Trafford even has a dedicated section for tourists....

A point that many forget, and I did mention on another post, is Football has changed enormously in recent years and Citeh,Chelsea etc are now hosts for over seas investors to process or some might say, launder their money rather than investing in Art,etc invest in players and then sell them on to make a profit.
This follows the American model,in many ways which is about commercializing the product,'football,' and I am sure we will see more of this change happening.
I stopped watching Cricket years ago because I cannot tolerate 20 20 which is for me tantamount to baseball with a cricket bat.
Those traditionalists amongst us have to accept change and I can see in the not too distant future,as football develops, the laws changing to accommodate a wider audience.
I hope I'm wrong but maybe we need to have a neutrals enclosure where tourists can have their picnics etc.

Im in AW in y block right next to z.
Never seen so many tourists plus half and half scarves. To be fair they were no trouble but had to have the songs explained to them and didnt do any of the clapping etc. I think it detracts from the atmosphere when nearly a complete row in Z were silent the whole game, just taking pictures.
