If all the away results had taken place at home, and all the home results had taken place away, I think we'd all be pretty delighted with the season - barring a couple of disgraceful displays against Brighton, which I think really stoked some ill-feeling among the fans at key points in the season.

Were they really that bad, seriously? Mr Friend was a great ref for them wasn't he at their place and a mistake at home in very windy conditions allowed Murray a great shot and Knockhard's goal was totally out of the blue in all honesty, they only had those two attempts at our goal, they basically defended brilliantly against us.
We could very easily have scored about six more home goals and no one would have battered an eyelid because we easily deserved them, those six goals would have got us very easily over the fifty points mark and made the home games seem far more enjoyable.

Brighton away. 3 nil down at half time against 10 men and Roy refused to bring a striker on until the hour mark.

Brighton home. Never really looked a threat. We scored due to a very clumsy penalty. Roy refused to make a sub until the 77th minute. By then they'd just hit us on the counter again and we didn't stand a chance.

And yet we finished comfortably ahead of them. I guess the song you sing is “Never look in the bright side of life!” In your case, your misery has no company.

I agree with this assessment. The Brighton games were a gift-wrapped 6 points to the Weeds. Just look back at the match threads; particularly the away game.

Anyway, as I've posted elsewhere, I would have taken 49 points and a cup qf if you'd offered it to me last August.

Is battered eyelid a delicacy down 'Kernow' way?

Have you ever had anything positive to say? Continually sucking the joy out of life can get a bit wearing you know.

Yes mate, I'm constantly positive about Palace and truly believe that we have the talent to finish top 8.

I have stated a fact: Watford beat us three times and Brighton twice.

None of this is negative. It's a mixture of facts and optimism.

Not bothered about where Brighton finish in relation to us. I always predict a Palace win and I'm always disappointed when we lose as I believe we can finish in the top 8. We would have if we had beaten a couple of teams (as you rightly point out) we finished comfortably above.

This isn't miserable. This is positivity. Being happy with mediocrity isn't positive in my book, it's negative.

What you see as mediocrity I see as inconsistency. You’re the one who focused on the poor results against Brighton & Watford. That’s positive? Not on this side of the pond. I see a 38 game season you see 5 losses. Please, have a good summer, come back refreshed and with a more positive attitude. This is Palace after all. We’re the fun guys not the win at all cost bunch.

Thanks for the advice, great job!

I'm glad you've taken the time to give such constructive and in no way patronising advice on how I should formulate my opinions about palace: subject to your approval of course.

As you're obviously the type of person who appreciates open and honest exchanges let me reciprocate:

Please, have a great summer, pick up a book about soccer, educate yourself. Perhaps do some math(s) and see where we could be in the table if we beat our rivals who are s*** and come back with a positive, can do attitude: Top 8 here we come, Go Eagles!

Yep, we can hark back to when Roy took Fulham on a European tour and Allardyce got West Ham well up the table another time but the games changed so much since then ... that we can't expect managers at this level to do that.

49 points considering we haven't broke the bank and got stung on bad signings again is another Hodgson masterclass IMO. He has a system ... and it works!

Back of the net yet again, mate. Great post.

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham
