You are correct, Thaksin is a folk hero in the poorer north and north east of Thailand and the working class areas of Bangkok where his social programs gave dignity to the poor and the downtrodden. He might be corrupt but, as you say, so are most high up the food chain in Thailand. I think he would invest some of his fortune in the playing side and attract a lot of support to the club from not only within Thailand but also from China where he has extensive interests and from where his family originally came. And, of course, his sister the lovely Yingluck would be a welcome visitor to Selhurst Park.

She sounds like a lucky omen.

Presumably P Diddy and Colonel Gadaffi will be part of the consortium? If so we might finally get Nugent over the line.

Tits up, yes you're right but if its done properly it obviously works, Leicester, Wolves and Man City I think have done it the right way but the way Chelski have gone about it is horrible.

This geezer is supposed to have serious dough unlike Simon Jordan and Mark Goldberg and we all know how those reigns ended.

This story came out of Vietnam originally so I'm taking with a pinch of salt...but it livened up my afternoon.

Apart from the latter Chelsea strategy of stockpiling youth players, the Man City way isnít any different from how Chelsea bought their early success.

Everyone speaking like this means we'll suddenly spend money.. our current owners have a combined net worth of nearly 5 billion, thats alot more than this Thai bloke.
If you combine them, we are in the top 5 or 6 richest Premier league clubs.
Id rather not end up being run by a Thai geezer who knows nothing about the club.

Those American part owners of ours will never invest much more than they already have so their wealth is irrelevant. They also want out anyway so even less chance of them spending anything.

A sale is obviously what is wanted and needed. Hopefully Parish ensures itís to people whoíll keep the club safe firstly, and in the Prem.

On one hand you have allegations of a corrupt official in a country where they seem to use those allegations as a way of outing goverment regimes. Interesting that he only got 'outed' when we started to be tough on the war on drugs. But then the list of Corruption allegations is so long - there has to be something there.
Seems to really want to succeed in the PL, but the last incredibly unsuccessful attempt at ManCity left people like Sven Goran Erikson saying that he didn't understand football.

Not sure what he's been doing for the Last 10 years, hopefully watching all the football he can get his hands on!

We can't spend billionaire money on players so the only thing that a guy like this could do for the club would be to invest in the ground and facilities to increase our revenue and make us more attractive to players and new fans.
I don't know exactly how City and Chelsea get away with spending as much s they have but a bit of that would be helpful too.
This particular individual knows nothing about football so I would see him coming in and then selling on, the same way as he did with City.

Chelsea did so before FFP and Ken Bates had finished the stadium but with a debt of about £90 million. Itís once FFP has come in that Chelsea struggled to win titles and probably gave abramovitch the excuse not to spend.

City use sponsorship from the ownerís business to fund the team. Theyíll be investigated and probably face a transfer embargo imo. As long as Liverpool donít win the league again Iím not bothered.

It was Citys ridiculous spending habits that were the catalyst for FFP to come in. Having to create rules to "play fair"

Basically "stop being dicks"

If somethings not going to happen there's no need to close the thread.

The brexit one would have ended 1000 pages ago if that was the case.
