I know I should be confident, we have incredible batting all down the order, strike bowlers, some of the best all rounders in the game, and its on home soil.

Our recent form has been on the whole pretty exceptional.

Why am I still s***ting myself that we are gonna blow it again in an ODI world cup?

I trust that your rhetorical question has now been answered!

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)

Because that's what we do.

Yes, it does have a wide open feel to the tournament. Australia are going from Zeros to heroes pretty quickly and they, along with India would appear to be the teams to beat. New Zealand also have an excellent all round side in this format and the Windies on their day can beat anyone. I might have a cheeky double on England failing to qualify out of the group and losing the Ashes series.

The odds on us not qualifying for the semis has fallen from 11/1 when I placed the bet to 6/4 now. England will lose to India on that Edgbaston wicket, so it will all come down to New Zealand at Durham ( another venue that will suit the opposition). The ironic thing is if we have had Anderson and Willey in the team today they would have skittled the Aussies for 150 in those conditions this morning

I hear what you say although I doubt whether it's true as whilst Willey is a left arm paceman he doesn't have the outright pace of the Aussie pair of left armers.

The graphics shown on the TV showed how few of our opening bowlers' balls would have hit the stumps whereas the Auusie bowlers were far more accurate as that superb ball that did for James Vince showed.

England produce some fine bowlers but we can't seem to produce the worldies that Australia do that can perform to the highest of standards year after year.

We don't seem to be able to do as much with a white ball as the Aussies manage.

My point was swing bowling. Yesterdays humidity was perfect and James Anderson is the finest swing bowler of a generation. David Willey is also an excellent swing bowler and has consistently taken wickets with swing with the new ball by pitching it up. Wood and Archer were bowling far too short.
The Aussie bowler who was brought in was swinging it throughout his spell.

Excellent recovery though by NZ to set pakistan 238 to win.

With pakistan they may smash them off in 30 overs or collapse to 120 all out, you never know !

England now know their fate. They need to win 4 games in a row to win the world cup. Given that those 4 are likely to include India twice, New Zealand and Australia I really don't fancy their chances.
In fact the way the Edgbaston wicket has played it will all be over on Sunday.

For f@ck sake.

That may be us done and out.

Bloody disgrace if this team fails to qualify.

Important we play the wicket today, these are all ICC prepared and not 'home' strips.

Fair point. But our bowling was okay in the end against Australia. Vince set the tone for the batting. We need to play each ball on its merits. Not play stupid shots and give away wickets.
